Runs pretty smoothly for extended periods of time on my laptop with 256MB video memory on lowest settings, but then I suppose I'm running the vastly superior in every way Windows Vista!!!!!! Zing!

The series peaked with Vice City. Only thing I liked about SA was that you could ride pushies. f*** YEAH!

I agree. Vice City was definetly a personal favorite.

(i have a 1GB 4870)

there's a shock, someone who bought an ATi videocard is blaming the software instead of their POS hardware

bepatient, if you care to use the search function you'll find that quite a lot of peeps on this forum who've been in the business of building and fixing computers made for gaming have strongly suggested that users avoid ATi cards due to all the issues that can come with them.

Ouch, sounds like i got you a bit upset there. Just so you know I haven't had any other issue with this graphics card. In fact it has been my (multiple) NVIDIA cards that have died in the ass, thus my switch to ATi.

And your trusted "search function" is purely a collective matter of opinions, providing neither true or false facts to which cards are better. Not to mention the fact that every card changes, along with every opinion out there.

Oh and by the way, I have been building pc's for years now AND Ausgamers isn't my online resource for computer part reviews so no, i didn't use the search function.

After hearing how bad this game runs on high end PCs, I found it weird that it ran almost perfectly on normal settings for me on e8500, 8800gt and 4gb ram. Seems to be really hit and miss.

I stopped playing because it was too serious and the missions nowhere near as fun as the previous games.

Anyone else with a ATI card confirms this works without vram leak?

Nvidia if nothing else spends a lot more money on paying game makers to make their card the 'official' card for the game. Generally that means they work better.

To be fair when it comes to card quality I couldn't blame nvidia or ati, it'd be mostly blamed on the maker of the card. Unless you know, the actual GPU is dead.

I support nvidia because their drivers have generally been better, but occasionally ati come back with a better price/performance card by a bit.. but again it generally only takes nvidia a couple of months to rebadge another card to resell at similar price performance.

To be fair - ati has come a long way in the last few years. the radeon 9800 pro era was a bad time for ati really. It got a terrible reputation as so many sites said "this is the best card" and then 1/2 the people who had that card ran into issues in most of their games. I think that kind of stigma still exists to a large degree, warranted or not. That and the catalyst control centre is a resource hog and feels like a nanny who is difficult to fire at times.
