Topic: Google Looking To Acquire Valve?

The internet has exploded with talk that Google are making moves to acquire game developer Valve, despite both companies stating that such comments and suggestions are merely "speculation and rumour".

According to The Inquirer though, an announcement from Google stating they've acquired Valve Software is imminent, and that central to this deal is Valve's leading online digital software deliver service, Steam.

Take this info as you will, but Google have stated in the past a desire to move into the gaming realm and their recent announcement of allowing developers access to Lively, the new Google
online virtual world, for Browser-based game-development only adds more meat to the pie. Would this be a good thing? Let us know what you think...

In my opinion, if any company was to buy Valve, it should have to be Google.

I hoped that EA would buy them so I can give up on PC gaming forever.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2008/09/18/valve_kills_google_buyout_rumour-2.html ?

Seems it's not so, but hey - It's the internet and Kotaku don't actually have an official press release/source listed other than "we contacted Doug". Doubt they'd post it for the sake of it, so make of it as you will.

I hope google take something out of the merger too, like after you have done a search if you haven't clicked on a link in 1 second your browser fades to black for 2 minutes.

How can you trust ANY f***in company? They are all nasty corporations out to squeeze every dollar they can. Valve is one of the worst offenders.
