A new Half-Life 2 speed record has been set - 2 hours, 14 minutes. Download the 1.1gb movie showcasing the record; at the moment we only have a BitTorrent download but you should get decent speeds (please leave your torrent open for a while after downloading!). |

Doom 2 Nightmare in 49 minutes, 49 seconds in one go. Now that was something special.

You have way to much time on your hands if you can sit through one of these. Get a haircut and get a real job ;)

reckon, who wants to sit and watch 2 hours of someone playing. They need a "cool speed tricks" edit version where they just show off the highlights. I remember some of the awesome grenadejump tricks from QDQ that were particularly cool, but I wouldn't want to have to sit through 2 hours to find them again :)

But I dont have the game, so i think it would be interesting for a bit to see how it plays. I have no plans to buy it at the moment so I dont care if it ruins the "storyline", just would like to see what all the hype "was" about

You can't compare Quake to current games. You have to compare it to what was out at the time. They were limited by the technology of the time. It was a milestone in gaming.
Back on topic, it will be good to see how much the time for HalfLife2 can be reduced as people learn a few more tricks and holes in the maps. |

You could pull off some damn fancy stunts in HL2 just by adjusting cl_timescale then speeding up the video accordingly.

Agreed, Q1 is still the best multiplayer FPS ever made, and I doubt it will ever be exceeded.

That Doom 2 demo was awesome.
I'd like to see a Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy speed demo. Or Zork. ;-) |

Just read a bit of the latest John Carmack plan update he made recently, what surprised me was this quote from him.
There are still bits of early Quake code in Half Life 2 I would have thought that the Source engine was a completley 'new' engine..guess I was wrong. |

Carmack:
Quake 3 Source full blog I guess at some levels of code it's simply easier for Valve to pay royalties to Id rather than develop it themselves. last edited by DrFrag at 02:51:06 04/Jan/05 |
