AusGamers and Activision are pleased to announce another competition! As a promotion for their new strategy title, Medieval: Total War, Activision are giving away 4 copies of the game with a poster to 4 lucky members of the AusGamers community. Medieval: Total War is a game of empire building and epic real time battles. Encompassing four centuries of warfare from the first Crusade in 1095 to the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Medieval: Total War takes everything that was compelling about the critically acclaimed Shogun: Total War and adds new levels of depth, accessibility, gameplay and strategy.Check out the competition page for more details and how to enter! The game has just been released in Australia; for more information and a close look at it check out our preview! |

GreyMATr thats not a serious question is it?
Just incase you are serious though. The Turks changed the name at the formation of the republic(sorry don't have a date for that). They took the city from the Holy Roman (eastern) empire which was the only remaining part of the old Roman empire nearly 600 years ago. I believe it was first called Byzantium until the Romans took it then it changed to Constantinople after the Roman Constantine, leader and later emperor of the Roman eastern empire. That happened in about 330AD. History leason over :) Incase you haven't noticed I love Acient history particularly Roman history. |

Constantinople was part of HRE(Holy Roman Empire) it was the second Capital City of HRE in the far east, when HRE empire was dead, The remain of HRE in constantinople became Byzantine Empire. Constantinople was besieged by more than 80,000 troops from Ottoman Empire(The Turks) for 7 months in 1495, the defender only had 7000 garisson tho. Constantinople was taken by Ottoman Empire in 1495-1496. It was the end of Byzantine Empire :) and it's name changed to what we know now, Istanbul. Capital of Turkey End of history guys :=) |

you are wrong about the name after the fall of the last Roman empire. It was called Byzantium prior to the Romans taking it over. It was also know as 'Nea Rome', which means 'New Rome' prior to it being named Constantinople after Constantine. And Term not all of us need to use a f***ing search engine to get our facts. Some of us actually have interests other games. |

The only reason they did so well was because they had Russell Crowe leading their armies.

If you wanna see hot women back in the Roman times go down to your local Video Ezy and rent out Caligula. The closest you'll get to porn without hiring out a porno.

Gabriel: I did read the rules, which is why I asked the question. You must've read some other rules, the ones that don't mention the competition closing on 4 oct 2002.
