Just a quick heads up mainly for hosted sites that have domains pointing to us, but also for everyone else. Next week AusGamers will be moving to a GBit connection to the core COMindico router for some planned expansion. Additionally we will be moving into our own subnet at the same time, which will involve a change in IP addresses for all AusGamers servers.

If your domain isnt pointing to ns0.ausgamers.com and ns1.ausgamers.com I'd recommend you change it now to limit your outage. I'd like to thank COMindico for their continued support of AusGamers over the last year on their totally awesome network, if you dont know, AusGamers is one of the largest domestic producers of internet traffic in Australia, and this can sometimes cause huge headaches, both for us and our provider, COMindico .

Problem with having servers in brisbane is that they are only good for people in queensland. Sydney is the best place for servers for Australia a whole.

Why don't you compromise and host some servers here and some down there?

first, sydney has the biggest population base in australia.

sydney has better connectivity to the other major population bases then brisbane or melbourne.

sydney is located in the middle (city wise) of the east coast, therefore ping times to sydney from melbourne and brisbane are roughly the same.

Sydney is where COMindico's main data centre is located. The data centre in brisbane has no peering with optus or telstra.

do i need to continue?

heh if we hosted a server in bris, your data would go down to sydney, then back up to brisbane then to you, thats a good idea
