3DO have finally put up the international patch for heroes 4. It still doesn't support multiplayer, but it does fix the huge memory leaks, the music skipping, adds grids to the different views and a number of other changes. For most Aussies you should need the UK patch, but there's info on the patch site to show you how to check what version you have. 3DO's ftp site is a tad hammered at the moment, so it is taking forever to get a connection. Hopefully an AusGamers copy will be up soon ... UPDATE: AusGamers now has the mirror of the UK version that most of us will need ... |

That game is so dodgy, they release it without multiplayer, full of bugs and then take ages to release a patch that everybody outside the US can use.

They released it early because a lot of the fans where squarking for it...I dont think it was a mistake to release without a multiplayer funtion, provided the realease a patch for it soon after. Although releasing it with a bunch of memory leaks and skipping music is dodgy.
I havent played it yet though, but HOMM3 was great fun, so I can imagine this will be just as good. Does anyone know where I can download a demo from? I had a quick look for it, but didnt find anything. |

I think Heroes 4 is a fantastic game, but this s*** with the patches (i.e. releasing the 1.2 patch for US customers only) really pissed me off. At least they are looking after thier international customers with this patch. The other s***ty thing that has happened is with the packaging. In the US, they got the game, the full 120 page manual, and three reference cards. The UK customers were pissed, because they got a s***ty PDF manual, plus the reference cards. So you can imagine how annoyed I was when I opened my box to find the manual was in pdf, the reference cards were in pdf (WHO THE f*** CAN PRINT OUT A POSTER SIZED PDF FILE!??!) and the two cds, not in a jewel case, but in f***ing paper slips. Now that is just downright cheap. Oh well, at least its a good game.

Yeah, the packing really pissed me off too. I'm all for the old style cardboard boxes, in fact I have a whole shelf purpose built above the computer to hold the 100 odd boxes I've picked up over the years. But if all they want to do is give you a CD and a little note telling you what you missed out on, then I'd rather have it in a DVD case ...
