Thanks to the support of AusGamers newest partner Cisco, CPL Pacific will be the first of many lans to feature the fastest network ever created for computer gaming in Australia, Costing 1/4 million dollars, this equipment is mainly cisco 3500's and has gbit eth too boot. Want to see what that much money buys you? A whole lot of cisco loving thats what! This equipment will feature at all AusGamers lans accross the country from now on, Does cisco rock or what! Somthing I didnt mention, is that this gear had to be made in the US the last couple of months, and shipped urgently specificly for this event. I would personaly like to thank all the effort Cisco Australia have gone to, to ensure that CPL Pacific has the best network money can buy. |

They are shafted's leads; Cisco doesn't supply networking cable to anyone (they don't make it). |

Splash Damage, You relize this 'insulation tape' is actually labeling to identify each connection, without following each patch to the port, right? And as far as decent cabling goes gigabit technology, regarding utp cabling is the highest demanding, so I doubt very much that these cables are taped up, as I beleive you are suggesting. Perhaps if you are interested in persuing some correct information to build some constructive thought on the matter, you could read up about cisco technologies on their site, or better yet shut your f***ing hole. Regards Brutzz. |

The gigabit (that we are using) does not use UTP, or any kind of wire for that matter. It runs through the optical fibre which you can see as the orange double cables. |

Though you could use UTP cable.. Cat5e support Gigabit ethernet, but there arn't many switches which use Copper GigaBit.. an Intel one and a Bay Networks iirc.. maybe just the intel. But mmm.. Cisco Catalyst swiches. Now the problem is getting them from lan to lan. You can store them at my house, really! Trog: "One of the perks of been the largest gaming network in Australia". Just a question.. how many gaming networks are there in australia? :D (the last bit was a joke. you laugh at jokes. or in this case, a little smirk would do, as it was crap. just saying this so no one flames me like someone did about insulation tape on network cable.) |

the orange fibre connections on each switch is only to connect each switch to each other, not connect client to switch. could also be used to hook up to a large capacity fibre network, or a blade on a serial link. i'm surprised cisco gave you switches with a bad credit rating.... |

Leeching is bad, mmmkay. If the makers of some piece of software do so on the understanding that you'll pay them money to do so, either pay them the money they request, or dont use the product. |

If Shafted is anything like QGL, the tape on the cables will have been leftover from when the cables were stuck to the floor. |
