Over 500 avid game fans from around the country and overseas will cart their PC's to Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne this weekend to take part in the largest computer games event seen in Australia. The event runs non-stop over 3 days from Friday 30th March with over $30,000 in giveaways and $15,000 in Tournament Prizes.

Event organiser, Steve Trickey says "This is a significant step forward in bringing Australia and New Zealand up to speed with the rest of the world in terms of this new form of professional cybersport. That we have star players from US, Sweden, Russia and Korea attending testifies this is not an event to be overlooked".

Highlights of the weekend include:

--500 player BYO-PC event with $30,000 in prizes and giveaways provided by Atomic, Microsoft, Guillemot, Creative, Ferraro, Jolt Cola.

CPL Pacific is the Australia and New Zealand division of the Cyberathlete Professional League. Headquartered in Dallas US, the CPL has already gained international recognition and it's recent events have provided purses in excess of US$100,000. The league's star player Johnathon "Fatality" Wendel earnt around US$85,000 in prize money alone by competing in such tournaments.

AusGamers (http://www.ausgamers.com) operates Australia's largest network of online and offline services catering to computer and game enthusiasts. This includes an extensive mix of online news, hosting and event management services in addition to a national group of offline gaming LAN events at which social and competitive elements of multiplayer gaming are enjoyed.

Atomic (http://www.atomicmpc.com.au) is Maximum Power Computing. It's not a mag for corporate buyers or retailers or linux enthusiasts. Atomic is for people that love their PC, know everything about their gear and are never happy with their PCs performance. Atomic pushes PCs to the limit - partly for the sake of finding out what is possible, partly so we can run CS with everything turned up but mostly because it's cool fun. Read Atomic and rock harder at CPL.

Player entry to the event is $40 payable at the door, spectator admission is $5 per half day session. Press passes are available - for further information contact event organiser

Well, we've booked 7 flights for clan mP to fly down. It just so happens that we booked the same flight down/up as SAS. Rest assured...we'll be wreaking havoc.
