Well, two hot and heavy days of LAN action and the QGL has their CPL qualifier winners - in Quake 3 Duels, Limps took out the competition over BadKarma - well done to Limps for continuing his Q3 skills since the QGL Finals. In the CS, new clan Mechanical Pulse took it out after defeating SAS in some well-played games. Congratulations all and we look forward to seeing you guys kicking it down at CPL for Queensland.

Well, despite a few problems, overall the LAN managed to go ok. Just so everyone is clear on the matter, we didn't really want to run this LAN, but we really wanted to make a local CPL qualifier available to you guys - we got stuck when ANZ was booked out all month so were forced to take a second-rate, expensive, hot venue which was also hot, and expensive. Lack of aircondition was a huge problem, as well as poor drink supply and a few other problems. The network was pretty flawless thanks to the new uber Cisco gear we got, except for a few problems due to some old switches having some linking problems.

So - sorry guys :) The next QGL LAN will be coming up very soon out at ANZ (looking like mid-April), and we'll be making every effort to make this one rawk. As usual, we'd love to get some feedback about this LAN and any comments or suggestions you might have for the next one - hit us in the comments section or mail us.

Well, the lan was pretty good. First lan I've done admin stuff for it, helping setup, blah blah, taking money from people for drinks etc (which due to the heat in the hall we ran out of quite quickly), and was overall a good experience.

Congrats to Limps and the MP team (1 or 2??) for winning the CPL-P qualifier auto-berth spots, and good luck to them down there next weekend.

Bah, apart from the heat the only crap thing was everyone packing up to go home at 7pm >:( slackers!

The CS qualifier rocked, really high level of play etc.

Our match (FJ) against mP2 was a real blast too, I loved it :D

Yeah, even though the venue kinda sucked the CPL-P qualifiers really did have to happen.

Once again, a huge thanks to QGL Admin for the flawless amount of effort they put in - you rock guys!

sif it mattered, I was still playing Serious Sam long after all the ghey pack-up-early people had gone home :P

But yeah, it was a good lan. True I spent nearly the whole time limping around like some invalid due to me successfully nerfing my calf muscle friday night while setting up, but even that couldn't dampen my enthusiasm and much lanning was enjoyed :)

QGL was excellent. I just wanna thank the QGL team, and everyone who entered the CS qualifer competition. I know that we had some f***ing awesome matches against some good clans.

Thanks again also to everyone for their support, | mP | just hope and plan to do QLD and QGL proud by taking out the CPLP.

:P

*look down in shame*

Well, at 7pm it did seem like a good idea to pack up. There wasn't much CS action going on... at that time. And my pathetic attempt to leech divx from people didn't get me anywhere either. However, I did stay back till 9pm playing virtual tennis on DC. It was great fun. Too bad I didn't have my joystick with me... I play like a newbie on those damn joypads. :)

Ah, are you the guy who slawed me in singles and slawed me and Bones in doubles? :) That was some good games, pretty intense in parts :)

Khel: Probably... I was the guy who partnered with Toll Tooth Willy and won the mini-competition. Perhaps next time we should have a singles cup? I much prefer playing singles than doubles... :)

BTW... Toll... good job on today's game (both CS and virtual tennis). Next time we should pair up again if they have a comp. :)

Yep, everyone is right CS was a good standard, bit disappointed. KyA played 6 wars and won 10 rounds and lost 2. Both losses were to the victors, congrats MP and good luck. We were pretty disappointed because we didnt get to play any of the other 'better' teams like SAS MP2 or ACT. We played the best team on our worst map.

What about double elim comps or round robin type comps? Everything was great and thanks to all, just disappointed that the scoreboard doesnt reflect how well we played. I think the fact that it is over after one game disappointed a few ppl hence a fair few early leavers.

The dreamcast was good for a change, see you next time in the A/C

True though, it was kickass competition, but SAS losing by ONE f***ING ROUND is ÜberDisappointing.

Oh well, SAS is still cruising down to CPL just for the f*** of it. We will be competing ofcourse, although it is just going to be a little more tough for us with no autoberth :(

All I am concerned about now, is Queensland smacking down those southern slarts and claiming the title of Australia's top gaming state :)

Re: the competition format, while double-elim is preferable, we simply couldn't afford the extra 3-4 hours of playing time that would have been introduced.

The qualifier was solely designed to find a winner in the most efficient manner possible. For more standardish QGL comps we prefer to provide a greater playing experience for all involved, but for this qualifier, finding the winner was the overall aim.

That's good to hear. I'm sure the inital rounds won't be too much of a hassle. Anyone else planning to make the trip? I heard BadKarma mentioning he'd try to make it down for the Q3 duels ...

With tickets only ~$198 return to Melbourne it's pretty damn cheap to get there. Should be an awesome 3 days ;)

Thanks for the QGL guys, it was fun, even if my clan didn't show up...
I left early as kaygen wasn't feeling to well and i was his lift... :(
But thats o.k., there is always next time. :)
It was great meeting some of you, putting faces to names and all...

I wish i can go to the cpl, but i am saving to go to europe for the whole of sept. and my clan is not going.. :(

I hope the clans going down will kick ass.. ;)
Congratulations to limps and | mp | for some hard core gaming skill...

Oh, i didn't see you there Wart, next time seek me out and say G'day mate..

For the rest of you i hope you had as much fun as i did. Till next LAN...

Yeah, another j0r LAN brought to us by QGL Admin.
That heat really took it out of me. Normally I can stay awake and alert for over 40 hours, but I was f***ing spoooooooned by the end of the second day.
Got to meet up with a few old friends and have a game or two. Good to see ScrumpyJim and Harry actually turned up this time :D
I needed to leech more anime, but ran out of time :(
Good to see you Primal, and some members of your clan DID turn up. At about 2pm Sunday :P

Next time I'll format BEFORE I turn up to QGL. Then I won't have to spend 9 hours of a LAN fixing up my POS computer.

"f***ing camper..."
:D

Suggestion:

Always run a 2 day QGL

sif you can stay up all night watching jackass at a one day lan =))

pr0ps to yet another awesome lan except for the fact that it was c***ing hot and no f***er shared anything so that i could leech make backups.

Maybe because they're actually playing stuff and dont want strangers leeching off them and ruining their game?

Yep, another brilliant job by QGL admins. Cyph did some uber ghey bulls*** mid-air rail schlaw and really laid the schmaq down on me :( But I still own him online :P

Was a hawt day, but lotsa coke and the fact that I want the only stanky one helped.

My clan, DDS, lost to mP by a couple of rounds. I cant wait to play them again at QGL.

So, till then. Keep laying the schmaq and be happy y'all!

Dogmatix: that makes no sense, are you saying that since its a two day lan that people should put a day aside to not playing any games and allowing people to leech off them? Thats kinda silly isn't it? I thought the idea of a two day lan was to get uber amounts of gaming in, cause I know thats what I was doing with my two days :)

Khel man, i meant so everyone who wants pizza gets it delivered at the same time ? =\

yep I work Saturdays which makes 2 day lans with CS on sundays awesome, and as before at least double elim.

I was sharing explicit material on sunday from lunch as well as games and music. Got the s***s by 4 o clock when no one else shared.

If ppl just share their whole HDD then they can unshare it all in one go when they wanna play.

And as for pizza it was less than 5 mins walk, as if it was a mission from there. 300 metres up logan rd. If that.

When is next LAN exactly? And when is CPL in melbourne?

Yes, there were piccies of your ARSE taken.

They are locked away.

And where's the credit for | mP | team B caining through all the clans it did, such as FJ and ACT?
Much toughter than DDS and SAS! :P

We are so gonna 0wn that plane on the way down to Melbourne. I had to even spend extra on the ticket just to get that flight. :P

I hope DeeP's likes his allocated "Mulsem" meal. *grins*

ARG! yeah it works now :p

Anyway, One vital bit of information was fogotton at about QGL...

That is that Toll Booth Willy cleaned up :p

Not only did my Clan (impress arnt we :p ) win QGL but myself and LD50 won Vertua Tennis. and I fully 0wned Soul Calibure and Tekken Tag Torny....

I call that next QGL has Soul Calibure, Tekken and vertua Tennis comps ( can you beat the 0wn4ge of Team LD50 & Toll ? ) so I can win more prizes :)

hehe LD50 made a pretty decent soul calibure opponent, next time bring you joystick :p

Well I'm gunna stop my ranting and Issue a challenge to anyone that thinks they can win at Soul Calibure and Tekken Tag Torny :)
BRING IT ON! :p

I always share my HDD. Though I have no problem with ppl who dont, I DO have a major problem with people who leech off you without sharing. There is simply no excuse. Its and extreemly rude thing to do. Too many more poeple leehcing 1gb or more off me while sharing nothing themselves, and Ill just stop sharing too. Then noone wins.

At this point, the April lan is going to be taking a step back into the early 90's and the days of the snes.

We will be running Super Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat 2 comps on the snes through the course of the day :)

According to your logic, leeching Windows XP is average stuff, good it mixes good and bad. Installing it however...
