The longest-running Quake event, QuakeCon, has just had its site updated with news of their upcoming event in Texas, from 9th to 12th of August. Just in case you'd started to think Quake 3 was dying off, they've announced a US$30,000 prize for the Quake 3 duel competition (so its worth about a gazillion Australian dollars). In addition to the champion's tournament, QuakeCon 2001 includes a 24-hour-a-day, 1,250 person bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN-party, and four days of workshops and discussions on everything from game development and technology to the latest in computer hardware.Sounds aaawesome. |

I wonder if they'll be showing off any of Doom 3... Also wonder if they'll have any CS comps...heh. I mean as far as I'm aware id Software still get royalties from the sale of Half-Life.... |

I imagine there would be, official ones is another thing though. Last year clan rZe were running an unofficial one that went pretty good, which NFI (+ some standins) was represented in. |
