AusGamers Files does it again, serving as Australia's primary download location for major game related files released around the world.

This time its Operation Flashpoint, released late last night and already 2100 people in Australia have downloaded it from AusGamers.

What is Operation Flashpoint? Well here is the story:

You begin the game as a Private in the NATO unit, playing the game from a first-person shooter perspective and joining the rest of your force as it fights to maintain peace on the infiltrated island. This game is all about freedom. Although as part of a unit you have dedicated orders to follow, your actual involvement depends entirely on how you want to play the game!

Amazingly you can also drive or fly any of the vehicles that you happen to come across. Taking a helicopter to offer much needed fire-support or jumping into an army truck and transporting troops to a heavy fire-zone is all very much part of the game. If you fancy leaving the driving up to someone else then you can get one of your squad to do the dirty work for you while you sit back and sip some champagne (if only!). We were witness to the versatility of the game engine as we looked upon a car race with us in control of one of five Skodas, the rest being under the influence of the PC AI. And I haven't even touched the multiplayer side of the game yet!

Just played it

Single player... hmm... maybe
Multiplayer... f***ing NO

Kinda reeks of Delta Force really, only thing that will encourage me to play is maybe some cooperative single player

Hmm yeh I have just been trying to come to grips with it myself. The idea looked brilliant and the ability to use vehicle and choppers ect...interested me greatly. But having played the demo for a few hours I am pretty disappointed in the execution of it so far.

I dunno if I have my setup screwed but what is with this zooming in s*** when you simply run forward all the time? The interface/command structure is a bit ghey also. I dunno how long I laid there bleeding calling for a medic until the prick finally got ot me..s*** i nearly died of old age. The waypoint/objective system seemed clumsy to me at best.

Oh well lets hope Medal of Honour is better.

You have to go to the medic yourself psycho, i think it was a stroke of luck he actually ran past you =)

Oh and are you one of these weirdos that uses right mouse button to run forward? The default bind for RMB is zoom in

The interface was f***ed, and i don't believe you can't move faster than 1km/h with a LAW on your shoulder

The game so far looks pretty newbieish, and having been in the game development industry, don't expect too much more from it before release.

It's all cut and polish from here on in.

i just played through it, it was good, bit chunky on my 1ghz machine with geforce2mx, i found it hard to follow when your leader goes '2, attack soldier' and you're looking around trying to find the f***in prick to shoot him, probably better idea if he was highlighted or something, might make it a bit easier to follow orders. oh and when you are running your gun aiming point is jumping all over the place thats why it looks like its gone crazy

The aiming point going all over the place while running added some realism that i'm surprised hasn't popped up in other games much.

I hope they keep it in there, but with a toggle option for people who like it fixed in centre screen @ all times.

Einstein, I was trying to get to the medic but had a small problem in that both ma legs were gone!

:)

Also what the hell is Valve doing with TF2 for Gawdsakes! How many years is it now?

ok, i d/l it, unzipped it, to have "3" yes three CRC errors. why cant they make an .exe file. that way everything is neat and NO crc error crap.

f***ing wasted 5 hours.

Genesis no mate i thought it was awsome too!i love it you have to now what your doing to enjoy the game ,,also when sarg gives orders your number 2 in the squad and he tells you to attack soldier a little yellow box comes up on your target derrr also you can pick all weapons up off dead people also you must understand the buttons and what they do so i suggest you play it a few times and trial and error you setting for it!theres 3 different sort of views for firing your gun use optics button.. p.s you need atleast a 400mhz to play this and decent video card..

The speed is very ram dependent - I found it slow and clunky on an athlon 700/128 meg/gf2mx, yet really sweet and fast on a PII 400/256 meg/gf2mx
