Gamespot have a few lines regarding the PlayStation 3, Sony's successor to the PSX2.
During a keynote speech given around the time of the PS2 unveiling, Shinichi Okomoto, senior vice president of R&D at SCEI, said that the company has already begun research on the PlayStation 3, with hopes of making the next PlayStation 1,000 times as powerful as the PlayStation 2.

even though the ps2 core speed is 300mhz or something, the actual processing is very different to the processing a pc cpu uses (ps2 processing is aloooooot faster), thus it would need about an pc 800mhz+ chip to rival the speed of the ps2's cpu, (although the exact facts i cant remember, im quite sure about this, someone who has researched this should get the facts right. so im sure the having the ps3 1000 times faster than ps2 wont only be a pc... it would be powerful enough to.. control some tank thingy's and start a baaad war or something. yesh. it would be very powerful

yeh it can, but 7 or so has to be hooked up to become powerful enough , so i guess just one ps3 could do it.
although when the ps3 comes out (give or take 5 years)
things ill be diff.
