nvmax has a sneak peak at the new NV30, Nvidia's next card, with focus on the GPU rather than the memory this time. It also looks at Nvidias new cinema engine. Follow the link below for some rather interesting looking screenshots as well.
This sneak preview of the NVIDIA NV30 focuses on the architecture behind the chipset and some, but not all of the new features that it will bring. Because we signed an NDA to get this information we wont be giving away performance figures, as mind boggling as we know them to be. Instead we shall focus on "CineFX", NVIDIA's new cinema engine that promises to render animation such as Toy Story; in real time. Since we can't share benchmark figures we will leave you with some thought. NVIDIA says Cinematic quality requires five key points...

What I find interesting is the link between nVidia's CineFX demos and stuff being produced by Exluna. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it. Also, there are a couple articles floating about on the Net (on sites that are generally pro-nVidia) suggesting that the NV30 is even further behind in production than we thought - ie: that it maybe 2003 before we see it released.

more than likely a ploy or business tatic to get people not to buy the "other" brand of video cards because ours will be the lastest and greatest _once_ it gets here :)

Heheh. I was hoping they'd be out before christmas so I could compare them and buy accordingly. It'll be a bit disappointing if the NV30 is really late (eg: Feb/March 2003) because I'll end up buying ATI without a chance to compare.

Matrox and ATI seem to be blown away with NVIDIA's stream of graphics card releases. Will intel make a card to outperform the i740?
