I was wondering if a Grainward Geforce4 Ti4200 with 128mb DDR will dramatically increase the performance of a P3 866, 512mb pc133 and a gf2 mx200 32mb.
Cheers. |

Hell yes. The MX200 only has 64bit RAM, which means if you play anything in >800x600 it will run like dongs.
That's only one reason. |

Thats what I have been thinking dais. In 1024x768 in q3 I can pull about 100fps but in a firefight it drops to about 60. I have about $400 to play with so I am thinking I dont need any more ram .. and $400 isnt really enough for a decent cpu + mobo upgrade. So for a performance injection, I thought I could get a Grainward G4Ti4200 from pcrange. I thought that would do, and I shouldnt have to upgrade my vid card next cpu upgrade.
Any better suggestions? |

two words: hell yes.
I'd be saving for a CPU/RAM/mobo upgrade as well though! |

Ahh .. Thanks for the correction there orbitor :)
I've got some other money coming in at a later stage in this year, so for the time being I thought i'd just do a vid card upgrade. |

I wouldn't mind one of those Gainward cards. Go to Tom's Hardware and check out the scores the Geforce4 Ti4200's were getting. Very impressive for a cheap card. When I say cheap, I mean price tag.

Does it come with any kind of warranty incase it gets damaged in the mail? This card is def DDR isnt it? Thanks for your help people. |

yes its DDR, and it has a DOA policy (dead on arrival), just post it back to him and he'll send another replacement.
i had 2 cards sent up to me, both work just fine :) and he said he hasnt had a DOA yet :) mine were packed really well. well the card is $335, if it hasnt changed but i think itd only get cheaper anyway, and express postage he charged me $20 for both cards from syd to bris, so im not sure how much express post is to adel, find that out and add it on but im sure itll be cheaper than your other price by far :) |

yeah they are moving web hosting apparently, thats just his email or something, he isnt dodgy, get that ICQ number or send him off an email i posted and have a chat to him just ask him what the current price is on the GF4's he stocks.
I dont know him personally, just off a forum and thru the sale i did with him. But hes cool. Hes a champ, id never done a Direct Deposit transfer with money before, he helped me thru that and had the cards up to my door by the next day! I was impressed :) |

I bought a Gainward GF3 Ti-200 off him. He sent it to me BEFORE I paid for it, it was packaged very well, works like a charm.
I sent him a cheque as payment, that was fine. Gainward are very good cards and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Nick again (in fact I will be in the future :) |

I bought my card (GF3TI200) from Finn Computers, came with a 3 year warranty too by the way!
He's a nice guy to talk to, best to ring him up and ask all your questions like that. I paid on 10AM monday morning and had the card in my hands by 10AM Tuesday! |

it's common in graphics cards for the 64mb version to have faster ram than the 128mb version.
64mb = 3.3ns/3.6ns 128mb = 4ns not sure if this applies to these cards though. |

it has 4ns ram, but id rather have the extra 64 meg of ram if u ask me,
games will start to utilise the extra ram soon enough and a card with faster ram but only half the ram isnt going to be better is it :) |

apparently Doom3 will use 80 meg of textures,
i sure as hell don't want it using the AGP bus to access the extra memory :D Rubba does the one you bought for 335 come with a second VGA output (or DVI is fine) ?? |

can someone get the correct prices, as I'm looking for a gf4 ti4600.
I currently have a gf3 64mb and I'm getting 40-60 fps in AA. So I want to get more. I want tv in and out. And DVI can go f*** itself because I havent found anything really good for using DVI out. |

Yes the Suma are a very good card for price for a few reasons
the 4200 uses 4400/4600 Refrence board isntead of 4200. and it uses BGA memory so less heat aparently. but the price is Ouch compared to others |
