Topic: Decicated Sever over a network for internet use?

I have a computer that i want to use as a decicated server. It is on the network, it is not the server nor does it have the direct connection to the internet(cable). I wish to set it up, so that it stays as a client within the network and as a decicated server so that friends can join thro the internet. Any ideas?

i have never successfully got it to work cause you gotta forward the port on dedicated to that computer so you would need to pick a port that you didn't normally use
plus your ain't gonna be able to get many ppl on it cause you prolly capped on cable (4 people MAX)

Why even use sygate at all? Why not just ICS? or even better, win2k with NAT, then its really easy to do anything like this!

Hrmm... I wasn't much help was I.

If I understand properly, you want two things, Wingate and HLProxy - I haven't personally got it working but it's supposed to ;p

This is what you're probably referring to: http://www.hansenonline.net/HalfLife/networking.html. Great stuff, check out the Networking page first then the proxy info.
