I heard that Q3 runs heaps faster if you play it in Dos - how do I do this? Will Dos support surround sound on my SB16?

that would be a neat trick, seeing its a win32 application

I dont know where to start with why that statement is wrong! quake3 is a win32 app, and an sb16 cant do surround for s***! :P

It's possible, but to do it you have to set your SB16 card to the surround sound "format" manually in dos (I believe surround sound option is C). You also have to give it the first two letters of the game you're running, with slashes before each letter. For example, Unreal is /u/n and Half-Life is /h/a.

So, the *exact* command you have to type to get Quake 3 to work is:

format c: /q/u

Good job maxe, assuming you knew to replace the square brackets with angle ones, that'd probably work :) though you'd probably like to put an endl on the end to make it nice and neat...

Oh, and how about an infinite loop? they are fun
