You should get the Hercules, sif they aren't the best GF2 MX. I'm going to ignore the fact you asked for the cheapest, crappiest one you can find and recommend the hercules because obviously you just dont know whats good for you!

yer well i can't f***ing afford it can i? i know that asus/leadteks are the cheapest around and i'll bet my left testicle that they run better than an m64.

oh btw trog, does umart have online ordering only or have they set up a shop somewhere?

how does a creative gf pro compare to say a hurcules gf2 mx??

fps wise????

coz im deciding whether it would be better to go the faster sdr ram.. or the the old school ddr version..

i currently have a gf sdr.... it sucks in fps...

yeah but what about overall man??
the gf2 chipset is set to a faster clock than the gf...

so.. the gf2 mx is better @ low res... i need to know around what sort of res does the ddr kick in and make the gf pro faster than the gf2mx??

GF Pro is slightly faster, but not $100 faster is how i see it... Get ASUS V7100 at sunlit for $199... I know Sunlit are dodge bastards, but its boxed, so no problems...

I got the apollo gfmx2 from games dudes , dont get that one!! its only clocked @ 143/143 so i took it back and exchanged it for the suma Platium mx
its clocked @ 175/166 , now with 3dmark 2000
the apollo = 1259 marks
the suma = 5798 marks
half life i get like 99 fps 800x600 with 2x FSAA :)
Quake 3 with fsaa off = 100 fps @ 800x600
for $179... hehe cheap but nasty :P

the ddr geforce2mx has 64 bit data path whereas the sdr(normal)geforce2mx has a 128bit data path which means they are pretty much exactly the same, the slowness of the data path with ddr makes it pretty much the same with the lower bandwidth sdr

Pffft asus are Refrance boards , plus there no fan on the heat sink.
not to metion the heat sink is termal cemented to the
mx chip so puting on a Blue orb is close to impossible.
and they only overclock to 195 core / 180 mem max
most other cards do 200/190.
only other reason people go out to buy asus cards is for the 5.32 transpaernt drivers. >:|

ps blue orbs are s***!

have a look at gamedude, there is a gigabyte gf 256 sdr there for 199 with good overclocking potential, it comes with a heatsink and fan, so no worries there, it comes with a little sotware, but all in all for the price its pretty good, if i was on a tight budget then that would be my card of choice. ps: m64's are uba ultra f***ing ghey! i would rather own a voodoo 3. ! and i hate 3dfx :D
