Ok you've all probably heard about Worldcom and their accounts fiddling scandal, but what I want to know is, where does it leave it's child companies? I mean OzEmail is owned by them and apparently OzEmail owns Powerup (afaik, and it's my ISP as well) so where does that leave me? Heard on the radio before that some major IT anaylsis firm claims that we don't need to worry - yet - but we should make arrangements now.

also interestingly enough Arthur Anderson where the accountants at WorldCom, for those that don't know they where the ones behind Enron, apparently AA has disolved and are facing criminal charges for Enron, one would assume more leagal action will be taken against them in light of the WorldCom news.

In reference to OzEmail, they are a subsiduary (speeling) of WorldCom and as such are not effected by this, afaik its business as usual for them.

17,000 people are loosing jobs IMMEDIATLY to try to "save" WorldCom, you've really got to feel for the people who lost their jobs :(

asif you wouldnt have told your friends about onetel. Myself and about 10 or so friends all got ontel simcards in a bring your own phone and $0 cost up front, you then got fairly cheap calls and could ring anyone else on onetel for up to 20mins at anytime of the day for free. For around a year none of us payed any money for ringing each other (depsite the fact that we all rang each other many times).

As i was on an optus plan at that time, i made all my calls to other numbers on it so i never payed onetel a cent (and nor did my freinds) but we recieved thousands of minutes of free calls in peak times :) I sometimes wondered just how many people around australia were doing the same thing and if ontel had planned for it when designing the promotion. With promotions like this and the numerous free tvs etc they gave away when people bought phones, its no wonder they were losing money big time.

Apparently some taxi company, in sydney i think, bought like 150 sims and they used One.Tel instead of 2ways.
