The guys over at siliconhorizon.com let me know that they have now introduced the new Everglide mouse pad, so we should see these babys filtering into Australia over the next month or so:

1. The mouse pads are no longer manufactured of polyethylene.
2. The mouse pads are no longer routed.
3. The mouse pads no longer have a “pebble stone” leather-like texture.
4. The mouse pad finish is no longer shiny.
5. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface has the nomenclature designation of V-1.
6. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface has a Patent Pending FineCell® Texture.
7. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface texture is now more consistent across the surface of the pad with a steeper vertical wall giving it a more densely articulated grain finish for more acute drag coefficient.
8. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface has an overall flatter finish making it more compatible with optical, LED equipped mice.
9. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface edge has a more gradually inclined consistently smooth shoulder.
10. The new EverGlide Mousing Surface has a more gradual consistently smooth shoulder.
11. 500 new EverGlide Mousing Surface V-1 product are being shipped to reviewers world-wide.

Hummm, I wonder if this post earns me a freebee (please!)

I need to get a mousemat replacement. My current everglide's main surface wore out and sorta became icky to use. Turning it upside down helped (which is what I'm using now). I tried sandpapering the top surface down a bit, but it didn't help (made it worse) so I don't recommend doing that.

Trog this may sound abit strange but if you want to smooth your everglide pad don't sand it,find someone that has a oxy touch like the ones used by plummers. If you run the flame smoothly and fairly quickly over the surface it will melt it just enough to smooth it back out.

Like I said it may sound funny but it does work I help one of my mates out in his plastics business and we do this to heaps of types of plastics including the one the everglides are made from.

There is another way to clean those pads you can use thinners on the plastic and that should do the trick.
