News.Com have the news that Intel CPU's are finally getting the chop, mostly due to the slowing PC trade in the last 6 months. Intel has decided to give that extra bit of incentive to push them new PC's out of the door.

Intel will kick off aggressive chip pricing this weekend amid high PC inventories and slow sales

The chip maker, sources close to the company say, will cut prices by more than 40 percent on some desktop chips. Many chips in its mobile arsenal will fall by more than 30 percent

While shopping for a K6 this morning, upgrading a friends super-7, I noticed that Gamedude have already pulled the pins from their Intel range. Most notable being the 1GHz Pentium 3 which was $1059 yesterday and now $599.

You are probably thinking of the 1.13GHz P3 that had some intermittant crashing problem discovered by Toms Hardware.
