I have nothing against hunting animals. What I do not agree with is people hunting animals that are almost extinct. You can go out and blow away all the bunny rabbits you like, cause they aren't exactly on the verge of dying out. Going out and killing a tiger or something? Then you are a fool.

I go pig hunting...

My motto is "If it's feral, it's in peril".
Feral pigs, goats, cats, foxes, bunnies and dogs kill quite a bit of aussie plants, wildlife and farm stock.

When the farmer needs dog meat, we down some roos as well.

I don't see anything wrong with hunting and find it good fun.

Ok, it is fine for Primal, Taipan and to some degree myself to talk about shooting s*** because we are:

1. In the Army (trained how to operate rifles safely).
2. Over 18 (esp you Taipan :).
3. Somewhat sane.

Mandy, you certainly act your age on these forums.

And StreX since when are you sane, I was talking to you on ICQ the other night while you were working and to me you seems really "Fuct up" :) Dribbling absolute s*** most of the time :P

I agree with dangles, etc. Looking down a rifle at a "pest" is enjoyable. Some people like Mandy can't handle it, but does that make the people that do monsters? Open your eyes a bit people, there is a world out there that you mightnt agree with, but does that stop it from happening? Try seeing other people point of view for a change, it might lighten your disposition.

One time I went hunting with my mates down near St. George we were working on a cotton farm down there. Our favourite thing on a friday afternoon was to load up the pick up with cider and cruise down by the lake.

Being new to the whole gun thing I was a bit cautious about using one. I rested the SLR against my chest and something clicked inside my head. It was like an electricial storm that was oozing slowly down my head.

Anyway we jumped back in the pick up and went for a drive around to see what we could see. After about 5 minutes of driving my mate turns to me and says "Is anything wrong?". I looked down and I was clutching the SLR like it was a baby made of gold. I responded with a "Nah, im fine just a bit nervous".

We didnt notice the thick black storm clouds approaching fast behind us. The rain and the lightning jumped upon us as if it was a vicious Panther lying in wait for an ambush. The pick up hit a rock and sent me and the other 2 guys flying from the backtray into the scrub just off the side of the road.

I woke up after what seemed like a week of dreams and the sun was shining down through a thick cluster of branches that hung over my head. I could not tell where I was. I looked myself over and found my SLR resting next to me and my clothes semi-intact. I had a large gash in my forhead which stung as the light peirced my eyes.

I called out to my mates "ROY, JOHN...IS ANYONE OUT THERE?" there came no response but a large flock of birds arching out of a nearby tree.

I walked down to the creek and washed the dry blood taste out of my mouth and cleaned a couple of cuts on my legs, when suddenly there was a sharp cracking noise coming from behind me. I spun as best I could and almost out of reflex lifted the SLR to my shoulder and pointed it at the disturbance.

I pig came running out of the bushes. I let out a shaky laugh and watched it as it went down to the creek for a drink. I sat their and watched this animal for what seemed like an eternity. I felt something that I knew was bad but somehow it was urging me to do it.

I walked over to the pig as it was drinking placed the tip of my SLR right at the base of its skull and pulled the trigger. BAM!!! it was the most god awful noise I had ever heard I got rushed with blood and gore and could taste the sour sensation of pigs blood in my mouth. I wiped my eyes and looked down and saw what was left of the pigs head dangling over the creeks edge with litres upon litres of blood pumping out of the Animals neck. The blood was slowly making its way down the river. It reminded me of a lava stream I had seen on the TV.

I examined the rest of the pigs body and noticed how human the creature actually looked. I touched its back and could still feel the warmth left in the body.
Something came over me and I felt the badness again. I raised the SLR again and shot the animal again in the stomach. I saw intestiens splatter all over the dark blood stained ground. BAM! I shot it again in the shoulder I could not help it, it felt like sex. BAM! I shot it again and again until I heard the almost relieving click of an empty mag. I collapsed over the pig and began to cry. I could feel its warm wet guts seeping through my clothes.

Yeah AnaRot I bet your a real life Rambo.

I have been shooting since I was 5 yrs old and at the time it was only at paper targets which I enjoyed. The first time I ever took the life of a living creature was when I was about 9 I think,it was a lizard that was about 3 foot long and was sitting in a tree about 20 feet above me.After it fell from the tree I wondered over to take a look at it,it was realy pretty looking thing with some realy nice markings.

As I sat there looking and proding it with the barrel of my .22 I started to think about what I had just done I had just taken the only thing this lizard ever had or need,it's life and I did it for no other reason than it presented an easay target.Beleive me when I tell you that nothing has ever made me feel like such an arsehole in my entire life.

Don't get me wrong by my last post I'm still realy keen on guns although at the moment I don't have any.

I realy do hate the unnesscesary cruelty in the way some ppl kill animals. But on the other hand animals that don't belong here in Aust should be killed off bfore they do unreversable damage to our native flora and fuana. And to be honest I would rather see ppl shooting those animals than poisoning them.

You only have to see how badly Rabbits suffer from Mixo to know why I feel that shooting is a better way to do the job.Unfortunately it's realy no practical to shoot all the rabits we have here in Aust so we poinson them.

I still don't like killing any animal but I guess I rationalise it by wieghing up the pros and cons of letting feral animals go unchecked. And everytime I think about it I come to one conculsion "ferals animals have to be exterminated and as quickly as possible".Everytime you kill a feral your saving a native or someones live stock.

Any of you guys be shooting feral cats? For those of you that have you'll back me up when I say that some of them get as big as medium sized dogs and they have these huge jaw mussels.

Some ppl who don't agree with shooting them don't seem to realise that cats that big didn't get that size by living on grass and wild berries.I once saw a cat draging a lizard that looked to be about 4ft long, not an easay kill to make for any animal but this cat didn't even look like it'd raised a sweat.

i get the same feeling as u sometimes when i shoot certain things.

I am a complete pacifist. I dont even kill mosquitoes. Its not up to me whether they live or die. It is not my life to give. Freedom is a very special thing that none of us really possess. The only freedom we have is to give our own lives. I wouldnt want someone else taking mine away from me even if i was a bug

And I am really serious about that last post too. About a 2 years ago I was at the pub underage drinking like we always did when these fellas came up to ask and asked if we wanted our first pub fight. We politely declined so one of them continued to bash my mates head in. I tried to break it up I did not throw any punches even though I copped several in the face (One breaking my jaw, besides they hit like bitches). My mates always argue that how can they hit like bitches if they broke your jaw and I say it was a lucky punch.

You know when you cop a good one in the face your teeth are f***n saw for days afterwards well my teeth where fine they only just busted my lips up. f***n old c***heads
