Topic: Suggestion for CS Stats Ranking...

The best ranking I can come up with is the highest Kills-Deaths should be the top player. This makes sure that people cant just come on for a 2 map rapage session and end up ranked 1st. The kills/deaths ratio is important, but this is a way for rewarding those who play more as well. What do u people think?

how is that a suggestion that is just what they currently do

and its not the best way because u could go kill 4ppl per round and die every round giving a ratio of 1:4

or u could be gay and camp your f***ing arse off and kill one person a round and every 4 rounds die and u will still have the same ratio

now this would be stupid because the more aggressive person is clearly helping the team out more

rubber_band: With only a cursory glance at it I'll admit that that is exactly the sort of ranking system I would use as well. I believe it's sort of hard to give points etc. for hostage rescue, and other team type stuff. I don't think that stuff gets logged and thus can't be used for stats.

Kills - Deaths has a number of benefits.
1) It rewards those that are actually any good ;)
2) It doesn't suffer from the problem of having players that just appear for 1 game, do well and then never play again. (A problem ratio ranking can have)
3) It has the same sort of benefits of ratio ranking otherwise.
4) If you die less often and get more kills it's more likely that your team was winning in those rounds. At the least you're probably helping you team out more even if your team doesn't win.

It's not a perfect system of course. But it's a lot better than ranking purely by avg. kills/round.

Depending on how much info does get recorded in the HL log files maybe I could come up with a better system though. I dunno. I'd have to be bothered to look :)

r u a QGL Admin Rukh?

btw the HL log files do show things like hostage touching/rescuing/killing etc... It'l really detailed if u have a good look at it, and the AusGamers log would be awesome to get a hold of I think :)

rubber_band: No. I'm not a QGL Admin. Just friends with some of them.

WAZ: I know kills - deaths has problems. I wasn't sure that HL recorded things like bomb plants and stuff.
Ideally, you would want to include that sort of info as well as incorporating the relative skills of the other people playing on the server as well.
For a simpler stat though kills - deaths isn't that bad. It's a lot better than kills/deaths or frags/round in my opinion.
