While I was over stealing content from the Shugashack, I thought I'd grab this snipped: seems that 3dRealms are getting a bit nazi on the whole screenshots debate. The Register has an article which details why they don't want screenshots taken. Basically, they don't want unofficial gaming guides and the like coming out and cutting into their profit margin (see the item about Nintendo sueing Daily Radar for an exact parallel).

Additionally, they don't want the usual plethora of screenshots which come out taken from every stupid angle imaginable by people that don't really have any sense of cool photo taking, which I think is fair - who wants bad shots of their game being splashed all over websites? (Although hopefully by now you'd expect the bigger websites to have half a clue and not do anything so stupid.) Basically, they just want websites to use a set of stock screenshots that they'll provide.

Personally, I think this isn't too bad a thing - I mean, seriously, how many Tribes 2 screenshots have we all seen? I'm sick to death of that already and its not even out yet. But they've only release like 8 or 9 screenshots for Duke Forever - awesome teaser shots that show really good scenes. I'm not even a big Duke fan, and I can't wait for it to come out - I think this will be akin to the first major motion picture game for the PC.

haha thats why you dont do much news, you steel it from shuga, the massive site with no content!

sif shuga isnt one of the only remaining quality sites. its not just news its character.

If you want news go VE or blues.

At least sCary posts interesting news; I go there cuz I know he filters out the slaw of VE. And as acid said, tis all about character.

I've read sCary's since his original site (quakeholio?); I've always liked his style, lack of reverance, and keen eye for decent news.
