Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could possibly lend me a hand...
my dvd player wont work properly - i get very jerky sound and im not sure if the display is working @ 100%..
it use to work well under win98, but i get these problems now with win2k
i have an aureal 2 vortex (xitel storm platnum) sound card and gfddr - guillemot prophet video card, i have prophet drivers installed, and installing manufacturer/detonator drivers makes no difference.

If anyone could make any suggestions/has the same probs please help me out :)

bob you ruin this forum. your useless s*** pisses me off everytime i come here.

wogboy, the reason your sound is f***ed is because aureal needs to be initialised in dos, it writes s*** to your autoexec.bat. so win2k f***s that up royaly. win2k just roots up everything related to games. if you are a gamer stick with win98se. directx 8 will prolly fix alot of your performance shiz too.the aureal sound does not work in milennium either btw

if you want your dvd and everything else working correctly, simply reinstall win98 fresh and all your speed and peripherals will be working flawlessly.

Yeah and if that doesnt work, give me a call, ill come round to your joint with a sledghammer and smash yer puta up. That way u can claim a new one on insurance, and get urself a SB Live Platinum 5.1.... Actually, just shine the batman logo in the sky and ill come running, save u the phone call :)

Hey... what type of soundcard could i buy that will actually work in win 2k? its gunna be a big job trying to get win98 back onto the computer and it'd be easier for me to just get a new sound card that actually likes win2k, but will give me really good performance through my altec lansing 8' subwoofered speakers :)...

win2k owns my computer now and it aint wanting to let win98 onto my drives... trying to free up a drive, shift all my mp3s to one drive and converting the drive from ntsc back to fat32 is just too technical for me :)

if anyone knows of a soundcard that is 100% compatible with win2k and that they know works perfectly on dvd/games... please tell me :)
THANKS

btw, have you tried www.vortexofsound.com for better drivers for win2k?

if you dont have any luck, get a SBLIVE, they have good drivers for win2k..

Mine works fine in Win2K with my MX300. I use powerdvd but you have to have version 2.55 upwards for win2k compatibility. Its not perfect but works fine. If it is jerky and sounds stuttery then just rewind for while then play again that usually fiuxes it too.

Anarot - are you using those beta drivers that aureal put out just before they went broke and closed down and then got taken over by some other company (i think it was creative)?

i use windvd thats compatible with win2k and thats f***ed as well
