well would it fit in a PII board?

and if anyone has a Celeron chip or PIII chip they wanna sell like 600+ or sumthing cheaply that fits into the riser card boards (i forget wat u call em... slot 1???) or with the riser and fits into an Aopen AX6BC i think, then i may be interested in that too =D

My PIII 450 is a slot 1, it isn't on one of those stupid boards though, it is the full OEM plastic casing with the HSF. Thing is though, I am using it now :o)

i dunno :D
someone tell me what this is
the kind of slot/socket thingy
i have an Aopen AX6BC mobo, the celeron 400 is sitting like on a riser card that sits perpendicular to the mobo(or ive heard em being called daughter card)

what slot/socket thingy is that?

Yea that is a slot1 motherboard.

If I had the $$ to get me a new mobo and CPU I would sell you my PIII.

well would a PIII chip fit into a PII mobo?
maybe a bios flash could do it, but... loki's board would probably combust or something :D
would the chip actually slot into the CPU holder dooby?

It supports CPU:Intel Pentium III / Intel Pentium II / Intel Celeron Slot1

http://www.aopen.com/tech/report/cpuref/p2cpu.htm <-- for all the specs of the CPU's it supports.

nah ive confused u now :)
ok the Aopen board is mine currently running a celeron 400, as much as i would like an upgrade i cant afford it, and a 450 wouldnt really do much unless anyone has like a slot 1 athlon or PIII chip like 600-800 they wanna sell me cheaply :D

the PII chip i was after was for Loki's system some old decrepid PII mobo, so yeah id dont think itd take PIII chips

thanks for that rod

im affraid slotA(not 1) athlons wont go into Intel Slot1 boards :) Celerons up to 333 came in Slot1 packaging, then they went to PPGA packaging i think. So you will require a slocket for these to work in a Slot1 board. If his board is by a renowned manufacturer, bios flashes should be available to let the board work with lower p3 chips

Rod i was after a new chip to get for loki becuase he is running on a PII 266 with 2 Voodoo 2's SLI'd
it eats royal dick, and he still tries to play games on it.

i thought if anyone had a PII chip like a 450 lying around, could get it cheap and slap it in, it would improve things a bit

-----------------------------------------------------

Myself i am running on a Celeron 400 with GF2 mx 200
its getting pretty crappy, so i thought id inquire to see what i could upgrade the chip to... but even if someone has one i prolly couldnt afford it :)

that clear it up?
