Anyone know a good place where I can take in some designs and they can draw up a nice pic? I emailed some dude in the US about a month ago about doing up a design but I haven't heard back so I guess he's not interested. LOL.

Most tattoo shops with design you something if you take a few things in to reference off, the clearer you explain what you want the closer you will get to what you want..

They will charge you to design something up even if you decided not to get it, some places you might be able to convince them to design it and if its good you will pay for the design and to get it done... but that will depend on how desperate they are and how much time they have... or if you have a good report with them and had plenty of work done before.

Some places will refuse todo what you want if they dont like the sound of it.. aka to complicated and messy, a terrible idea, as an example i wanted to get my fiances name tattoo'd on my hip, one place refused todo it, another place wanted me to pay a s***load for it, finally find a place though that did it on the cheap and didnt have a problem.

Your best bet is to start calling up places and see if they have standard rates, then book a time to go in and have a 30minute chat with them.. work your way from there.. if you really care about your design and getting the best results you will shop around. also make sure you ask to see some previous work.

I can only speak highly of Westside Tattoo on Boundary st West End, lots of mates have had stuff done there always top quality.

I had mine done at westside tattoo. It was a pretty simple design that a friend of mine mocked up, and it turned out great.

btw: the tattoo is of paveway's mum's name

Are you wanting something that looks traditional, or more new-school? You'd want to approach an artist that specialises in that kind of style.

If traditional, I'd recommend Luke at True Love Tattoo, or Wade/Stevie @ Wild at Heart in the city.

They're really not 'some of the best artists in QLD' hey. Certainly not worth driving 45 mins up the road for when you can go to Allstar/West Side/Wild at Heart/True Love which are all within at maximum, a 10 minute radius from the CBD.

shame you missed surf n ink down the goldie the other week, they had some awesome artists down there. but yeah just head into various studios and talk to the guys. all the ones guys have mentioned, westside, allstar etc. got 1 or mine done at chermside by a fella named jared, he did an awesome job, not sure if he still is there but i'll be hitting him up to do more.

alot of the lads from work go to this guy up at Caloundra, when i work next i'll ask them more about it. but they work he has done is very nice.

Also, AllStar are no more, the shop is closing it's doors. Link (the guy who owns AllStar) is also part owner of 198 Tattoo on Wynnum Road, and Auriole from Wild At Heart now works at 198 as well, so it's all good.

All the guys from True Love at Sherwood are awesome. Mez is the man though.

Like a couple others here I also got mine done at Westside Tattoos. I was really happy with the way it turned out, everyone there was so easy going and the place just looks more professional than any other store i've been to.

Best artist for animal portraits in the world, hands down, is Tom Renshaw. He taught Bob Tyrell everything he knows, and Bob Tyrell is classed as one of the worlds best black and grey fantasy artists, longside Paul Booth and Guy Aitchison.

Mike, our artist, is there Tuesday to Saturday from 10am. As I said, he has approx 22 years in this industry and has owned his own shops in NZ before coming over here. He used to work/manage Wildside in the city and also worked at Tower Tattoo and Dark Magik.

They're taking pictures of it everyday and because its fading so well they're going to use me as an example for people seeking treatment.
