G'day we are looking at getting ADSL2+ hooked up but we are having a bit of a drama finding a plan that suits us.
we were looking at getting TPG but they dont have enough port in our area (cannon hill), they have given us the option of getting normal adsl hooked up then upgrading us when they have enough ports open for free. Which im a bit dubious about as they wont tell me an estimate time frame, so I've started looking at other plan. From what i herd internode is pretty pwnage, but they dont offer big data packs for the price range we are looking at ( around 70-80 a month). There are 4 of us, 3 that will use it quite heavly & one that will use it for checking facebook and the likes. We have a phone hooked up so we dont need line rental. But what we do need is quite a large data pack 100 per month atleast. So anyone have any recomendations? also anyone with aanet? how have they found them to be? |

jigzie if you can get tpg hooked up and live with waiting until they've got a 2+ port (they will try and do this quickly because they make more money by having you on their own dslam) It will be worth your while I would only advise doing this if you have a bit of technical know-how about you, I've found their tech support to be complete ballsaq they do however have the best plans I'm on the 150gb plan right now, on the edge of the coverage area for adsl2+ but I get 5mbit no problems and I can always max it out (roughly around 700KB/sec) failing that, internode/iinet are the two best residential ISPs in this country bar none |

Which im a bit dubious about as they wont tell me an estimate time frame,, A co-worker was telling me a similar story about TPG, he stuck it out on adsl for a month before not hearing anything from them, then started calling each and every day.. after about 2 weeks he finally got adsl2... he claims that whilst they have every intention of eventually doing it he believes that new customers were getting connected if the port was available then and there.. instead of it going to people on the waiting list with existing adsl.. if it wasnt for him harrasing them then he would probably still be waiting... |

I had aaNet in Brisbane and it's awesome. I'd still be with them but they didn't offer naked DSL when I moved down to Melbourne. My favourite thing about aaNet was they charged per Gb when you went over your limit instead of capping you which was great for me. Nothing s***s me more than being capped because I went 10Mb over my cap and I'm a day or two out from the end of the billing cycle - let me pay the extra 50c or $1 it costs for my usage to remain at full speed.
Australia needs an ISP that has a rental fee than a price per Gb just like any other utility. |

When i was 15 on telstra's 10gb plan (shortly after they reduced it from unlimited) i used 39gigs. the cost was over thousands iirc. I think after many calls it was reduced to $200 which came out of my pay. (my kmart job) |

From here - http://www.aanet.com.au/Plan_12.html
$3 a GB = $0.003 per MB Which is nothing if as ticcles said you are over by only a few megs. I would personally like that too - I've been capped for a few days already and it kills me! I'd rather pay $3 to have the freedom to surf the web uncapped! last edited by HeardY at 16:53:34 29/Nov/09 |

Staying shaped with a guarantee you don't have to pay an extra cent (some people are happy just using email until their rollover date, wanting a simple bill next month without tiny payment adjustments confusing them) 2. or buying a data block ($5 for 2GB or bulk $15 for each 10GB). |
