Been working all day in a black out with no aircon :\

Server room still running so I'm high jacking aircon and power from there but its still not sufficient.

mother f***ers replaced the pole & transformer outside of our building on sunday, so I was in here sat & sunday morning preparing for it
some kind of spike I suspect has killed one of my IBM servers and also my main desktop machine, I have spent the last 48hrs fixing them both

we bought a 6.5kW generator when they said we'd be losing power but our UPS also died, so basically I could only power devices with dual power supplies during the "cut out"
everything else had to be shut down, it failed anyway because they cut the power earlier than they said they would and my f***ing generator wasn't on already

There's heaps I can do at work without power, instead of using the TIG I just use the oxy welder. Unfortunately I don't get to go home when the power's out, nor is there any aircon ever. :(

I was at work today in Milton, in the middle of doing some development when the whole building's power went out.

Never found out why but it was back about 10mins later and i had to remember what i had open and was doing.

Grrr.

Just got an email from UQ telling us they're cutting power/lighting one day next month for a couple of hours to test out the system. I will declare OH&S violation and will go home :)

I thought this was going to be a question about workplace rights.

if the lighting isn't bright enough and causes strain to your eyes you have every right to refuse to work

yeah i live at auchenflower - was a strange blackout for about 10 minutes then.

The moment we get a blackout normally we just wait around till someone shoots em then its back to work
