another random question for the qgl hive-mind.

on the 7pm project they have a segment on fridays, (and mondays i think) where they have random personalities from all the states satellite in and say some crap about whats going on there that weekend/week.

Question is - do these people get paid? are they doing it for their own self-promotion? If they get paid it wouldn't be much surely, like $100 I'm thinking?

Also what do you reckon your average presenter is getting paid? I was thinking maybe $150k - 250k depending on how popular you are. Obviously the top ppl like tracey grimshaw, bert newton, that annoying guy from the today show would probably be on alot more.

I would say (guess) that those guys don't get anything. The QLD guy works on nova breakfast show? Though they may get something if they are randoms, like pretty sure you get a nice bit of money for being a random guy on a tv ad.

Yeah, B and C-list celebs ain't exactly highly paid. Some of those midday presenters on stations like Nova are on salaries that equate to a pretty average or slightly above-average Joe Bloggs salary - but then they're paid more for other gigs and appearances. The same is true of many comedians - even names like Wil Anderson, Fiona O'Laughlin and Tom Gleeson ain't exactly on stellar incomes, there's just not that much in show.

Some of those presenters on shows will be paid to do segments, other times it's like they're getting publicity out of it in lieu of any payment.

I really can't see a couple of footy presenters/hosts being the highest paid on TV.

I work in marketing at Nova, true the midday/night ppl don't get that much above average wage, but the morning crew get alot more that what has been suggested. In Syd Kyle and JackieO are on a cool mil a year, followed closely by Hamish and Andy. They also get paid in the thousands for promo gigs, charity appearances, business openings, DJ gigs etc. Pretty sweet deal for a few hours work each day.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if personalities charged for charity appearances.

if the presenter is a male they generally have an annual contract made for them by their manager.

chicks get it worse - and it feeds the pr0n industry.
