TWO massive days of gaming and entertainment October 17th and 18th. With $5000 up for grabs, prizes for both open and pro brackets, 4v4 and Free For All events this will be an event NOT to be missed.

You don't need to be awesome at Halo to play - this competition is for everybody!! The tournament will continue on as a HUGE open LAN for knocked out teams and include other entertainment like a Halo 1 station and Halo 3 ODST Firefight station (if maximum registration isn't reached).

There will be a main stage with a huge projector, camera crew and commentators for spectating the big matchups. Side entertainment will include Promo Chicks vs Girlfriends, a halo rap battle and a dash of standup comedy.

This will be a huge event so get a team together and let the trash talk roll. SIGN UP NOW.

Yes, this is a console Halo LAN. Not all people LIKE Halo, but for the few people that are, this may be of interest. Perhaps keep forum trolling, Halo bashing to a minimum in this thread.

You can give material prizes like gfx cards, computers, iPods, whatever - but not cash.

If you're referring to the actual gaming, MLG competitions have specific rules, maps and gametypes for competitions. It's not like the nooby fixtures you see in matchmaking.

I'm not sure what people see in the Halo. I just finished Halo 3 and was extreemly bored with the whole thing.

Admittedly I haven't played Halo 1 or 2. Is the story line really that good that it makes up for the average game play?

I think they're fine to give away cash prizes in a compeition if its based on skill, instead of luck. Which most gaming competitions around aus would say that they are.

If it was pure luck, then yeah, i think they have to reg it as a lottery or something silly.

to do that you have to ensure you can show a true and fair game of skill occured thoughout the whole thing.

It always cracks me up when a competition attempts to use some admin based seeding in terms of who they think is good at the start, then do double elim after that, since as soon as they do that its no longer a game of skill... Also, what about if you random draw the first lot, then you get assigned to play against someone whos a better player than you and another player of equal skill to you gets an 'easier' player, then its an element of luck that decided the outcome
