Topic: Cheapass Win7 licenses for students

Just thought I'd point this out as there seems to be a fair number of students on here.

As per Office 2007, Windows 7 is going to be available on www.itsnotcheating.com.au for seriously cheap. Prices don't go up until October 22nd, but in the US they're advertising it for $29.95 for Win7 Home or Win7 Pro (no Ultimate, sorry :P). Only catch is you've got to have a legit uni/college email address.

Anyway, hope this helps out those members of the forums surviving on beer and Maggi noodles :)

Actually, on that note... Does anyone know where I can get Mie Sadaap noodles in Brisbane? My girlfriend got hooked on them in Bali.

I wonder if it'd work using an @alumni.swin.edu.au address.

Interesting, though I don't know whether I like Windows 7 all that much. However, it'd be a worthwhile expense to avoid the bi-hourly shut-downs.

Any decent uni will have an MSDNAA subscription for IT/Eng courses, providing free licenses for a crapload of MS products.

I already downloaded my copy of Win7 through UQ a few weeks ago.

I'd say so Fireblood, as long as you have a valid University email address.

I don't know about Win7 but staff were, or still are, eligible for Office07.

Where do you tutor?

going to the site says:

You must have a valid email address at one of the educational institutions listed here.
AND
You must be a student enrolled at or be a staff member actively employed by one of these qualified institutions in Australia.

Just fyi incase you couldn't follow the link and were wondering if you worked at a educational institution and wanted stuff cheap.

So unless you actually meet this criteria, you would be in violation of the software license and hence will legally be in the same situation as downloading a torrent.

yeah I'm not overly concerned that they're going to actually check my enrollment

It's an upgrade from XP and Vista to Win7.

$14 for physical DVD posted to you.

Read this thread for more info should you require it.

how long should it take to send the email for accessing the store? USQ's gmail setup doens't seem to be receiving any emails from them. Anyone else (particularly usq students) had issues with this?
took maybe 10 mins for BillyH to get his. It's not immediate.
