Hey guys,
I'm planning a nice night for myself and the miss's tomorrow and I know allot of you guys are from the Brisbane area.. Thinking of booking a whole cabin thing on the massive Ferris wheel thing - just as something different and a nice meal @ Soutbank and the markets and all that jazz. Was wondering if you can recommend any awesome restaurants from previous experiences, preferably in the Southbank region? Well, thanks for helping out a simple Gold Coast'er! |

Ahmets is good, the kookaburra queen is good but just remember its 3 hours on a boat. dinner is over in an hour and then your stuck on the bloody thing for 2 hours with nothing else to do.

Ahmets is good.
Also Kapsali's is good, which is right in Southbank and has good views if you get an outdoor table (out the back, not front) of the city, river, pools etc. |

Ahmets has good food but is really busy and the service is s***. There are far superior Turkish places if you go to West End.
South Bank is really touristy so most of the restaurants can get away with average'ish food but high prices because they will get the business anyway. There's a nice burger place there, but not exactly romantic dinner type food. |

the ferris wheel is good to go on once. There's usually not too many people on, so you'll get a carriage all to yourselves anyway, they're good like that.

I recommend Era Bistro
You will need to make a booking, dinner for two will cost prob just shy of $200 but the food is fantastic. |

lol thats pretty normal spook, if you go out for dinner for 2 anywhere like portside, eagle street, new farm and the like you are definitely going to pay $150 or more... but the food and experience is always worth it. And the ladies love it.

Is it the same wheel I went on at Sea World? That was f***ing lame, they chucked us in there with some s***c*** family.
If a meal costs more than $18 I start questioning it. Some of teh best food ever, like Pizza Capers, is less than that. I've paid over $30 for some really crap hole meals before. Having said that I would love to eat at a place that serves food like hell's kitchen - all that funny sounding s*** you know '1 hallebert 1 skallup 2 rizoto and 1 menyon' or whatever the f*** he says - I imagine that would be a $200 meal. Perhaps worth doing once for a laugh. |

Oh i agree spook, I love a good pub steak don't get me wrong. Thermite in my experience, I have found pizza capers to be s*** house, every time i've had it (uneven saucing, lack of toppings, poor topping distribution) but I do also agree that you can pick up a decent feed for a good price.
But when you want to go all out at a fancy restaurant, the prices I mentioned before are pretty standard, but there are some where you will pay less and some significantly more.. |

I also don't think I could eat as much food as they probably serve in fancy restraunt. People have like a 4 or 5 course meals on Hell's Kitchen. I don't really do courses. I eat a couple pieces of garlic bread and a pack of twisties and I'm done for the night.

sweet! they finally fixed http://www.pizzacapers.com/ up
I have found pizza capers to be s*** house, every time i've had it (uneven saucing, lack of toppings, poor topping distribution) yeah we bought about $70 of pizzas from the PC Cannon Hill store for my bros birthday and the product came out to us looking like crappy $3 no-name frozen pizzas from Woolies. it was the 2nd time they've done it and many emails went to the PC head office about it (the Cannon Hill manager was a rude obnoxious tool over the phone) I make the effort to drive down to the Mt Gravatt store for my uber Pizzacapers lubbin, and will never pass up the chance to chow down on a Bonanza if I'm working late =) er.. back on subject. Era Bistro looks like the sort of thing my other bro and his wife would go for. will keep that in mind the next time they're in Brissy eh |

there are plenty of places where you get what you pay for when your main costs $100 ..
I don't mind paying for an experience when I go out, if I have f***ing smoking hot babes serving me food in nice dressed down uniforms that are fast, polite etc they bring out awesome food and know exactly when to come and refill my drinks it can really make a night - that, and wagyu steak |

how can you eat 100 bucks worth of food?
I saw this shop Icemeister was having a deal "All you can eat ice cream for $10" - sounds good - but think about 10 bucks worth of ice cream - you can't eat that much! It's a scam. If I gave you 10 bucks of ice cream from Coles, you would get sick of it after a few scoops. |

Obes is spot on. Restaurant Two, Montrachet, Alchemy, Giannis... all mains are about $35. Even adding $15 for an entree and $15 for a desert it still only comes to $65 a head.
A bottle of wine to share between two for $40 and that's still only $85 a head... $100 a main... I think you're talking out of your ass |

owned by the famous Sydney chef so famous you didn't know his name ? And if you are paying that much for Wagyu you are definitely posing. I have had Wagyu 4 times, and never been that impressed (given its price .. and I paid way way less then that). Maybe I am yet to find that perfect one... but at $500 a kilo I'd laugh at the person that ordered it. ps. The best was the one I cooked for myself, but I was still massively under whelmed. |

The dude that's on TV - Matt Moran, there I remembered, you happy? Huh?
I've had Wagyu a few times, the first was awesome, subsequent nothing flash. Ole matey butcher up the road at Annerley has the steak you need. |
