Has anyone watched the pilot of this (The Vampire Diaries)? I haven't, but I'm curious.

While I was looking through the new tv shows, I came across this. I don't remember hearing much about it before, but the new trend towards Vampire shows has got me interested. Yes, I enjoyed reading twilight (hated the movie), and I've just recently gotten into True Blood as well, so I looked into this.

It's based on a book series, but apparently all the characters have been changed around alot - either looks, or history etc. Also, it's another high school vampire series, so I'm sure half of you are uninterested already. However, I kept digging, and discovered that the pilot was directed by the same guy (Marcos Siega) who directed Dexter, and a few eps of other awesome shows like True Blood and Life.

From the looks of things, it's not actually going to be released properly til the start of next year, I could be wrong though.

Opinions?

Plot: About a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers.

Twilight anyone?

By the sounds of some critiques who have read the book, they've even made the main character more bella-esque than she originally was.

while trueblood is good, this sounds like 90210 or the OC with a vampire theme instead of a school or beach.

not awesome actors in a dark well told story with tonnes of violence, sex and drug abuse.

i'm sure it will be popular with 14yo girls and middle aged women.

My old man watches True Blood (On Foxtel) for the sex scenes.

Best Vampire show was Forever Knight.

I get bombarded by the ads for this on that new ch9 station while I'm watching other things and to me it looks like a weekly version of twilight but I haven't seen the twilight movie or read the books so I'm only basing my opinion on what I've been told the twilight movie is about.

Best Vampire show was Forever Knight.

I remember watching this years ago, that dude with the puffy white hair & wild look in his eyes is one goofy looking bad guy.

I watched twilight and it was gaaaaaaaaaaaay. I was waiting for Wesley Snipes to come from nowhere and end some c***s.

True Blood season2 is awesome. Season 1 gayed me out.

Sounds lame, I'll stick with the awesomeness that is True Blood.

First ep was alright. I see it's done by Warner who also did One Tree Hill so it might be worth checking out. One Tree Hill starts up again in a couple of days but I can't see it being much good now that Peyton and Lucas are gone.

Finished watching the first episode this morning and I thought it was okay. I need to watch another episode to see if it's a goer.

f***ing hell i hate this new vampire trend. Twilight is horrible and anyone who likes it is a trendy hipster/homo.

Bring back vampire proper vampire movies.

In other news, Daybreakers looks good.

Ok so I've seen the pilot for this, at times I thought I was watching Gilmore Girls.

What's with that ring thing that lets him go out in the sun lights? I swear that exact thing was in an episode of buffy, spike had a ring or a medallion or something that let him walk around whenever he wanted.

Then there's the whole "not feeding on humans anymore" how many vampire movies/shows are going to milk that? Underworld, Blade? (though blade was awesome so I can overlook that, did he even need to drink blood? I forget), Forever knight, Buffy/Angel.

Seems like another forbidden love thing to me, girl likes boy, boy likes girl, neither can be together because:
a) he'll turn evil and eat her
b) he'll not turn evil but eat her anyway
c) he'll try to eat her and she kills him
d) he'll turn evil and bite her turning her into a vampire to which she objects so she kills him then herself
e) his evil brother turns her so now they can live happily ever after except she doesn't want to live a life undead so kills herself and Vampire McFangyBite kills his evil brother.

I have to wonder though, if the characters were older would we still be directing so much hate towards it or is it just because they're teenagers in high school we expect it to be Gilmore girls living in Dawsons creek located in Beverly Hills 90210?

At one point Spike had a ring that made him immune from Sunlight. He ended up giving it to Mr AngstyMcAngst (Angle) who proceeded to use it, walk around in the sun for a bit, got emo and then destroyed it.

The medallion was a different thing.

yeah saw this the other day I must saw I'm not a fan.. a bit too teenagy for me. but the other half said she doesn't mind it. strange really because she didn't actually like Twilight. we'll probably give it a couple of more episodes and see if it improves. being human on the other rocks pretty hard, can't wait until the next season :)

Look up Moonlight, if you like vampire stuff, was a TV series a while ago.. quite well done IMHO - whole first series is out, but apparently just missed the views it needed, and diddnt end up doing a 2nd season.. first is still rather good though.

Watched this last night and wasn't overly impressed. Too much of a Twilight meets every other teenage show out there. Needs more True Blood (and by that I mean naked chicks).

The only good thing about True Blood was the excessive display of tits.

Seeing my girl asked me to download this I'm having serious doubts about this being anything I'd like.

On the other hand if you nubs are looking for a series to watch check out Sons Of Anarchy.
Based around a fictional bikie gang in California. Has ties to The Shield with some of the same gangs. Actually had the actor that played Dutch for a few eps but its not the same character.
Violent and gritty... it pretty much is the shield but from the other sides perspective.

I watched the pilot, I can live with the limp vampire cause you know his brother is going to bring some death but its the whole angst teenager thing that gets me, maybe I'm getting old.

That said the final of True Blood last night rocked. Awesome how they killed the Maynard.

True Blood Spoiler:
That stuff with Eggs was so tacked on. They just cbf dealing with him anymore, so they decided that they'd get rid of him. They'll try to write it in as something significant later on, but ultimately they'll just go on as if he was never there.
