Has anyone snagged this yet?
I've grown up listening to my parents playing it occasionally and as I get older I'm finding myself appreciating it more and more I would have expected purists to jump all over the remastering of such a classic album but apparently they're all loving it too? Don't these all get remastered and re-released every few years? I won't be buying anything unless it's very noticeably better than the originals.

Is it their whole collection remastered, or the white album remastered?

I did get the "Let It Be...Naked" album released in 2003, but that was remixed by McCartney himself because he didn't like how some of the songs turned out. For instance, he got rid of the strings in A Long And Winding Road and Across The Universe is hugely cleaned up.
I might preview these re-re-releases and see how just how much they've done. |

I might preview these re-re-releases and see how just how much they've done. Yeah same, let it be.. Naked is definitly better, but that is mainly due to the fact that let it be was originaly done by phil spector, who didnt do any of the other beatles albums. The album was actualy recorded second last and the songs were kinda abandoned becuase the band wasnt getting along realy well and they were trying to write and record an album all on film and it just wasnt working. They then went back to george martin who said he wanted to record one last beatles record the old way, and that was abbey road. Phil spector then went back and salvaged the let it be recordings and made the album, without input from the band and it was released after abbey road as the last beatles album, even though abbey road was recorded last. |

Thread Revival!!!!
I got the mono box set off amazon. Now for those who don't know, all beatles albums up to the White Album were released in stereo and mono. The reason for this was that stereo, especially in the US, was becoming popular. Now apparently the mono mixes were watched over and supervised by the four themselves, whereas the stereo mixes were just done my George Martin, secondary to the mono mixes. I have listened to both the stereo and mono remasters and I gotta say mono is the way to go. You can hear all the instruments much clearer and sometimes I thought the stereo in beatles songs almost ruined them (eleanor rigby for example). |
