We've got a bunch of new keys for the Heroes of Newerth beta! For those who came in late:
In Heroes of Newerth, two teams of up to five players each take on the role of special Hero units. With the assistance of AI-controlled armies, each team sets out with the sole objective of destroying the other team’s base. As a match progresses, players can earn experience and gold which can be used to upgrade skills or purchase items to make their character more powerful. The team-oriented design of HoN coupled with unprecedented in-game Voice-Over-IP controls and Clan Support allow for an incredibly deep, tactical team-based experience.
For more information and to see some of the newly released screenshots hit our Hereoes of Newerth game page.

If you haven't had a taste of it yet, grab a beta key and check it out - these keys are limited and they went really fast last time, which is a sign this title might be one you want to check out.

The keys now are limited to members and we've disabled signups for non-Australians, so I don't anticipate the flood of newbs just coming for keys and spamming this time :)

It's dota, if it had more maps I think it would be worth it.

I've been playing it. Tis a good game. You need to like the Dota format though, the games can be long 30+mins each.

Your team has a big impact on the game, so if you have a crap team and can be a pretty one sided match where you know the outcome from the first 5 mins.

If both sides are equal it can be a pretty fun game.

I would recommend http://www.leagueoflegends.com/ over HON.

I have no desire to play HON over DOTA, but LOL sems to be pretty snazzy. The heroes actually play differently to dota heroes, and there's some persistance stat stuff ala the new Battlefield games.

I'm liking it atm, I didn't play DoTA though. Its a c*** of a learning curve with a really intricate "meta game" for you infi :)

yeah even if they add more maps I doubt theyre going to be original.

sorry but LoL is pretty fail right now. but its still very early beta stages, and they have some interesting ideas that differentiate itself from dota / hon.

hon is definitely the way once they iron out the bugs !

I'm pretty sure they will be original. I played the Savage series and both games had good original maps. They aren't going to keep making DoTA, they will be going their own way after 'release'. Also there will be user made mods and maps so I don't see how 'more maps' makes it more 'worth it' then it is now. What makes it worth it is the features that they outline on their website and the fact the game will have new content added constantly. They are still updating Savage 2 well after release and it is basically free.

I got one of these keys just because everyone seems to be so eager to get them. I guess I'll give the game a try. I've never played Dota before. It looks RTS-like, but what makes it different?

Midda, best way to answer that is for you to load the game. Start a private match (only you) and learn. You have a large learning curve if you've not played DoTA before. Don't join a player match as you will get smashed and be put off very quickly.

The art style of LOL is very toony so yeah at first glance it's not this gritty game, but so what.

If you actually play the characters, the abilities and combos etc you can pull off string together really well. Sure I admit they need to look at some stuff around tower defenses and lane dynamics, but it's still pretty fun at the moment.

HON is too much like DOTA, so much so that I question why anyone would want to buy it when you're getting DOTA for free. At least the heroes in LOL are actually different.

Regardless, I wasn't trying to start a LOL/HON/DOTA war, I was simply telling ppl to check it out as it's also in Beta.

HoN has many features that are better then DoTA. And DoTA isn't free unless you pirate Warcraft. And there are new heroes in HoN just like in LOL and will be many more.

Oh and the main reason, it is called 'LOL'. Major design flaw right there! ;p

More then art style annoy me about lol but its one of those things that is just the biggest gripe i have really. The rest is still a learning a process and im still new to the LOL beta but atm its unlikely to pull me away from HON for too long.

After playing a lot of dota and going to HoN you feel awkward for a few games, but after playing a lot of HoN and going back to dota you get frustrated at the fact that everyone leaves and creates a new account again to get around banlist. You get angry that the host drops and it drops each person until it finds the next person who has ports open to host. You get frustrated that your PC chugged or packets were lost and you get dropped with no way to get back in the game. You get angry at "amazing clan players" teaming up one side and then their fantastic tactics backfire and they leave on mass.

HoN is a better platform that really is going to only get better with age just like dota sucked 10000 revisions ago and i didn't start playing until 6.something because it was terrible.

Of course HoN is only worth playing if you enjoy a RPG based battle game where every game you start at level 1 again, and you are a good team player/enjoy playing with others. Very few characters work well acting as an individual, as you may do fine, but your team ends up as sacrificial lambs.

Just a heads up to anyone not in Australia - please don't contact support asking for keys, your email will be politely deleted without a response, since you already know what the score is.

Here it is again anyway just in case.

Beta keys(if there are any left) are limited AusGamers members as trog mentioned, and AusGamers sign-ups are limited to Australian based users.

(pro tip: saying you're from Australia probably won't work from an ip address)
