shame about the passengers
but isn't it weird that cabbies are such amazingly dangerous drivers, I see it all the time
shouldn't they do something about that :/

One time I saw a cab hit a midget in a wheelchair crossing the road outside RGs in The Valley and the midget flew straight into the side of an ambulance that was already there treating an overdose. Well I didn't see the moment it happened, because I was busy watching the overdose guy having a fit.

are cabbies becoming worse drivers?

im driving home yesterday through the back of salisbury behind nyanda high school

theres a little dip where the road rises and then comes back down along the train line, and im on a give way, signed and marked on the road;

old mate indian cabbie coming the down the hill has no give way sign, no markings on road, stops (with a full car) like he doesnt know who has right of way

wtf, how is this clown on the road? let alone driving others?

well spook it's an interesting topic. It's a pity that people see one or two cabbies shocking driving and then assume all cabbies are s*** drivers. There are some cabbies that have driven millions of kays and are epic drivers.

yeh there definitely are some cabbies who are great drivers with awesome road knowledge n experience... but they are a tiny minority from my experience. ie: i've had one good cab driver in brisbane... in my entire life :P

I had one cabbie in Brisbane who was proud of the fact that one of his passengers from the previous night didn't have any money to pay for the ride. So they came to a mutual agreement that the passenger sucked his dick for a while, male passenger by the way. He said it was good, some of the best head he's had and to top it off, the guy even swallowed.

I quickly checked I had my wallet and sufficient funds to pay for the journey....

the car is a BA Falcon, Yellow cab 460, don't know where it drives out of, but you see above the fleet number it has 'ST' in big letters there? That's a Substitute Taxi. So when a cab is broken down they use the ST in its place.

Reminded me of this time when we had macca's breakfast on the way to work because we were running late and this crash unfolded right in front of our eyes. It was on the Warrego highway on the way to Gatton. A small 4 banger car had crept out too far at a T junction and and just nicked the rear end of this big, black, late model BMW 4WD and sent it screeching sideways at 100-110km/h until it went down a little bank and come to a stop at a fence. To my surprise the BMW didn't roll.

here's a re-enactment

holy c***rag batman, he completely flipped it!@

i hate cabbies - about two weeks ago a cabbie crashed into my hilux and bent my new bullbar :(
i was driving north from the story bridge -> gipps street where its 3 lanes before the valley 5 ways just after the corner of whickham/gipps

I was going up to st pauls terrace, cabbie was in middle lane and im in the far left lane
anyway the cabbie just starts to merge into my lane and f***ing side swipes me because he wanted to go to st pauls terrace from his middle lane

there was 3 18-25 y/o male passengers in the taxi and they didn't know what to say
i stepped out of the hilux *f***ing enraged* and handed it to this wanker cab driver
he s*** himself, locked his doors and wound his window up, called the cops etc etc

f*** him I say! he came off second best fo shizzle

I got my ute fixed within a week and he needed two new doors (passenger side)
as a bonus they also color coded my bullbar to the same color as the hilux and they fixed a big ass scratch that I put in my drivers door last time I went camping at double island

all in all, i came out of the whole thing quite well

Amateur attempt at windscreen demolition.

I was wearing a seatbelt, however windscreen came to me (gearbox came up an took a shot at my arm) :O

My head went through windscreen and seatbelt snapped into place finally which stopped head from going all the way through and decapitating me when inertia finished.

Mine was much better!
At least the driver got a broken arm and battery acid burns to her face.
Guy behind me ost all his top front teeth
Chick in middle seat had the drive shaft come up an through smashing her ankle.
Guy directly behind driver got out without a scratch.

Only reason I'm still alive today annoying you lot was cause I was wearing a seatbelt.

Come to think of it, that woman driving is probably what the chick driver I was tuning way back then now looks like !

that's actually not terribly uncommon fubar. a lot of drunks step out infront of cars, especially cabs. lots of cabbies hit pedestrians who walk out in the middle of the road, except usually all they get is a few bruises rather than being cleaned up

thanks to cabbies SuperAbility to wrench the steering wheel to one side and put the car on it's roof in some carpark or shopfront, allowing the pedestrian to escape with self-inflicted bruises from tripping over as they try to negotiate the curb on the other side of the road

teq from previous posts in other threads you mentioned how you love confrontations in the traffic world and you never back down, like you're out there to prove a point. Maybe it's because of your size, maybe it's because of your bogan bull bar, maybe because of both, and then some, but it sounds like most of the time you could have avoided the situation if you really wanted to but you choose not because you're a such a hardcore vigilante SOB (B for Bogan).

When you mature soon enough you'll realise eventually that sometimes it just ain't worth it, especially now that you have a lil bub to look after.

match fixer, you're never going to convince me

firstly, i'd never do anything with my wife or child in the car
secondly, I go so far out of my way to be courteous on the roads to anyone else who also displays the same kind of courtesy (to me or other drivers)

if i see you cut someone off in my rear view, then you try and do the same to me - of course you're going to get a hard time from me
if you just drift into my lane with no indicator and expect that i will slow down so your car doesn't hit mine, you're probably delusional and deserve having to fork over your insurance excess to learn a valuable lesson

on the same note, if i see you have just let someone in from a side street, then you need to take my lane, i will actively slow down and wave you in

i am not and never will be one of these drivers who just thinks driving is a means to get from point A to point B so why bother paying too much attention
I am *always* wary of what people might be doing, I'm just waiting for the day when someone inevitably pulls out from behind a bus that's stopped - into my lane because the right lane is flowing freely, only to have my run up their ass because they didn't check .. its a matter of time

Maybe it's because of your size, maybe it's because of your bogan bull bar, maybe because of both

maybe its because people will continue to be c***s if they think they can always get away with it
i'm not a vigilante, i've never been charged, never used physical violence, never maliciously damaged someone elses property

I just tell it like it is.

Tequila seriously you are such an ass. If you could have avoided an accident you bloody well should have.

You'd rather f***ing cause harm or injury to another living being over a technicality?

Your a psycho.

You say you didn't cause property damage?

It is clearly evident that you willfully did damage property, you knew firsthand that you could have avoided the entire accident.

Right on match fixer!.

Teq, I can see where you are coming from, sometimes I wanna do the same thing, but it realy isnt worth it.

Even if you are technically right in all situations, as a good driver, you should also avoid accidents whenever you can, and even though that person merged on you without indicating or waited to the last minute and swerved over, if you can see it happening and can avoid an accident, then you should, and I say that the fact that you didnt take any evasive actions makes you partly at fault for the resulting accident. (yes yes, you never had to take fault insurance wise cause you were technicaly right, thats not my point)

Im not saying that you should just slow down and let people in all over the place, I will always try to block some d******* I see trying to race up a sidelane and push in and I always follow the 1-1 rule when dealing with merging lanes, that is everyone lets in 1 person, everyone is happy, and if some person trys to break the rule, then I just wont let them in.

Imagine next time some dude goes to merge into your lane at speed, and he may be in the wrong, so you go, f*** this guy and clip him in the back end, he spins around into another lane, gets cleaned up by another car and someone dies, betcha it wont fell so good then.

being a c*** isn't a technicality, its a choice

It is clearly evident that you willfully did damage property, you knew firsthand that you could have avoided the entire accident.

avoiding this incident would have meant mounting the kerb in my ute, not going to happen when i can quite easily and quickly calculate that him crashing into me would cause only slight damage to my car, which he has to pay for anyway

if i run up the kerb and he keeps driving, best case i get to beep the horn at him and then i have to fork out cash to fix my car/rims etc

cabs are all wankers and yes they work long hours for s*** money but that isn't my problem, nor is it the problem of other drivers on the road
they shouldn't get extra points on their licence either, but that's another story

I hate the way taxi's drive like 20km/h under the speed limit when they're carrying people so the drive lasts longer but seriously, when you're goin that slow how the hell do you lose it and end up upside down? Another reason why I hate ALL taxi drivers, none of the bastards can drive properly and it's their job. GTFO my country.

the meter works on both time and distance but you get more money the move distance you cover.

I'm pretty sure the meter is calculated based on Km's. Paging Mr Hardwart
Yeah. Mainly based on kays, but when you drop to below 20kmh it flicks back over to time, which is epically s***, 69c/min. On average a cabbie will take a bit over a dollar for every kilometre he drives, so it is within his best interests to drive as fast as he possibly can, cue OP pics.
Cabbies who drive slow are s*** cabbies.

Before I clicked on this thread I was thinking "omg I bet its one of those nut case indian cab drivers" and hey presto what do you know.

I mean what happened in the last 12 months its like the entire cab force has been infiltrated by indians. And they're f***ing bad drivers most of the time!!

Yeah mish. It's probably a little higher than that these days, i'd say about $1.30/k. You've just got to remember cabs do a fair bit of dead-running as they call it, ie driving to jobs etc. Yes sometimes the cabbie'll have a good run where he'll just go from rank to rank and hardly have any waiting and make a motza off flagfalls, and then there's the time where the only work going on is in the city so he'll take a job at the queen st rank and run out to, lets pick some random ordinary suburb like salisbury, and then run the whole 13 kays back empty. Or the instance where he gets a couple of no-show's (M15/A15) in a row and he can easily run 30 kays without making a cent.

And whilst that's true wild wizard i am talking about meter_take/kays.
The cabbie'll usually receive 50% of his take with the other 50% going to fuel and all the other car costs and back to the car owner.
Just for reference, an average take for an average day (4am to 4pm) will be about $350-$400 for a cabbie. He sees half of this, and then you've got to remember this is pre tax, and this is pure casual type rates, ie no holiday pay, sick pay, super etc.

so what, I have no sympathy
they're c***s and I wish the police would crack down on the illegal ones that don't have a licence (cab or drivers), can't drive for s*** / don't speak english

Driving all day doesn't give them the right to just do what they please on the roads

good thing I couldn't care less and wouldn't be a cabbie if you paid me twice what im earning now
I got a soft spot for truckies, bus drivers, etc
cabbies are in the same sized vehicle i'm in, often smaller - so they can abide by the same rules that apply to me

I'll go out of my way to help a truckie out period, they need a s*** load more room on all sides and they deserve it, they're also some of the best drivers out there because they have to be. wankers in small cars that cut truckies off and don't leave much room for the truck to break behind them etc - they have to plan for other peoples stupidity

cab drivers just think they deserve more because they drive a lot

I am definately in agreement that cab drivers need to lift their driving skill but driving licenses aren't the answer, driver training is the answer.

I hate cabbies cause they're mainly Indians and middle easterners, but i like truckies cause they're mainly bogans
