Topic: Accommodation suggestions in Phuket

I'm going to Thailand, Phuket specifically towards the end of the year. I've got some accommodation booked at the start of my trip which is really quite cheap because I don't expect to be in the room very much, but for 2 days at the end I wanted to go somewhere pretty extravagant.

Can anyone who has been to Phuket post any suggestions? I've checked out Trip Adivsor but would rather personal recommodations if possible.

I like the look of
http://www.salaphuket.com/
http://www.indigo-pearl.com/ and
http://www.villaroyalephuket.com/index.html

..but there's so many others too and who knows if they're any good!!

Man, Phuket is such a eurotrash f***hole. Go somewhere awesome like Koh Tao, which has awesome beaches, diving, a great nightlife without (as much) massage parlour/suit/tuktuk crap. Unless ofcourse that's what you're there for.

In terms of accom, I backpacked it, so can only reccomend you stay away from 'Coast Star Mansion,' which is easily the dodgiest backpackers I've ever been in.

If you have to stay over that side of Thailand, and can't make it to samui, tao, or phangnan, then I'd say head to Phi Phi Island. It's a big swedish backpacker destination and is alot nicer than Phuket.

we stayed in Phuket, it was fine. you just have to realise you're not in Australia anymore and get on with it
we hired mopeds and rode *everywhere*, went all over the entire island and had a ball for sweet f*** all money

stayed at patong beach in a place called.. horizon beach resort hotel
not bad, very clean all around and friendly staff etc

i'd be surpirsed if its still around though, it was right on the main beach that got hit by the tsunami
we were there 1 month before the tsunami

Teq - I think we may have stayed at the same place, AFTER the tsunami. If it is, it's still there. Either way, it was aligned with Hilton/Conrad hotels and yes, it was very nice.

Kata Thani Beach Resort Phuket

Got 4 nights free there with the deal, was freaking awesome. It has it's own beach, & s***load of pools etc. Free awesome buffet breakfast (I didn't need lunch when I was there)

Also a free Shuttle Bus to Patong when you need to seen the pure sin of Thailand :)

Oh & I was addicted to the a cocktail there, lucky it was only $1.80

You're gonna have a blast over there :)

I've been doing some work for this company www.villagetaways.com, looks like there are some high flying options.
