so http://www.hypernia.com is ditching it's local, awesome priced Aussie gaming servers.

Our L4D server cost just $20US a month.. the GameArena equivilent costs $55AU.

Are there any other decently priced hosts here in Aus?

Gonna go back to cheapy Asian servers if there's none left :(

Some of those custome maps are great fun. I'd host myself cept my connection (for the moment) doesn't have the required phats to ensure everyone has an equal chance.

I'm not 100% sure, but i'm pretty sure a GA rental server will let you host custom content; I'll check tomorrow. I don't see why it wouldn't.

I don't think GA even has l4d servers for rent, not sure why

not to mention GA L4D servers are s***, they crash like a plague from my experience..

doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out if your hosting costs are more expencive than what your renting your product for you'll come unstuck. Though having said that I think Hypernia had an unfortunate case where their provider has brought up the pruice across the board.

Hypernia is back online. They've teamed up with 3fl and iinet. Just rented a tf2 server off them yesterday, runs like a dream.

3FL has partnered with Hypernia Hosting, a US based game server hosting company, to bring all of their games onto the Freezone for all our gamers out there.

What this means for 3FL
We now have access to ranked servers! Right now we have Battlefield servers up, and we can also run them for Enemy Territory : Quake Wars and World in Conflict. Not only that, but Hypernia are an official host of id Softwares 'Quake Live' (currently in beta). Which means there are Freezone Perth and Sydney Quake Live servers already running.

What this means for iiNet and Westnet gamers
You can buy your own game servers, inside the Freezone, really cheap. These will be running on some serious hardware in new gaming networks in Perth and Sydney, so you can get the best latency. It's not just game servers though, you can get Ventrilo and Teamspeak servers as well.
