hai guys, recorded a 10 second video with fraps, the file is 101MB, it's avi format, how can I make this file smaller? you can download 720p trailers that go for longer than 10 seconda that are less than 101MB :/

I prefer using CamStudio. It's free and can encode to anything you like on the fly (cpu power permitting).
To convert the video you have, try handbrake or mediacoder (hashy suggested media coder but f***ed up his post, I figured he'd edit it to correct it but he just deleted it instead, NOOB!). |

Read the Intro+Preparation to set up Virtualdub + xvid. Then scroll down and read "Processing the video". The instructions were written with game videos in mind, probably what you're after since you mentioned fraps. |

Use windows movie maker. Simple as pie. Pie is tasty as well.

Weird, did you "install" fraps, or just copy its executable & files, as I'm pretty sure when it's installed it adds it codecs in aswell so its videos can be viewed in media programs & edited in video editing programs.

I think I installed it back when I had XP, then simply backed up the folder and copied it over when I installed vista64...

Fraps just saves to a uncompressed generic avi file right?
For quick and dirty encodes i use Virtualdub + VFW x264 (http://komisar.gin.by/ get the clear version). I have no problems with using fraps generated avi in virtualdub |
