Topic: Unlock Codes for Motorola V6 Razer? (FcUk Telstra)

So after spending well over an hour on the phone last monday to Telstra's Indian division, paying the $27 to get said codes and that I can expect to receive them in the next 3 - 5 days, I still haven't received them 9 days later.

I call up today, spend another 30 minutes wading through some of the worst english I have heard (an I'm used to some strange accents) and four different departments (first person I spoke to today was an Indian woman named "Ken"), I'm told that I will have to wait another 3 - 5 days.

/insert explosive here

So I very politely ask to speak to a supervisor as this was unacceptable, more department transfers later and some requests for some unneccesary personal details which I declined to answer) and I'm finally put through to a guy in the credit department with a very Aussie accent who could only agree with my contempt for the slave labour call centres Telstra force you to deal with who happily refunds me the $27.

Telstra, when one of your own Senior employees verbally states that it's disgusting the way you treat your customers, you really ought to reconsider your business method.

/end rant.

Anyway, anyone have the codes or software for this phone so I can do this myself? Or point me in the direction of a shop that can do this for me that's local to Sunnybank or even in the city?

Not usually though it can depend. If you get a phone for $0 upfront on a plan it's usually locked to that provider and you have to pay to get it unlocked as you don't actually own it. I don't know about all phones but I bought my phone outright and it came branded with all the optus logos & gadgets but my telstra sim card works fine in it so I presume if you pay the full fee up front for the phone (can be alot for new phones) you can go with whoever you want.

you should of been given the Unlock code for free.

the v6 where accidentally shipped from Motorola locked, the Telstra unlock system gives the unlock code without charge when you enter a v6 IMEI, infact it dosnt even ask any payment info whatsoever with a v6, just goes straight to unlock code AFAIK

Wait till i get to work and ill get it in 30mins.

you dont really pay upfront on a contract, and some prepay's only ask you to pay half the cost of the phone upfront. In these cases to make sure you dont just up and leave at the first sign of the provider sucking ass, they make it hard for you to leave by introducing minor barriers.

Some of these phones are worth 500-800 dollars and you are given them just for starting a contract. It makes sense for them to try and make it a little hard for you just to walk out with a phone.

A better way to walk out with a new phone is to get insurance on the phone and about 2-3 months before your contract renews is to claim its broken get a new phone and then get offered a new phone again as they want to renew you. :)

I'm not sure on the regulation because after the contract is up i'm pretty sure you should technically have paid off the phone and its yours. I think at that point it should be unlocked for free but I don't really know.
