They have for Internode, so you predict wrong.

Yeah, for $300 it's kinda tempting for me. I'd put it in the kitchen on the bar so I can stream photos and weather while I cook.

No subscriptions to pay, no plans to sign up for. It's paid for by Chumby Industries and by sponsor companies who will be sending you widgets such as music, games, movie previews, customized alarm clocks, and special offers for products.

$300 for a brick that spams you with ads.

It's if your hands/fingers/stomach are too large for a handheld PC / iphone / nintendo DS, but you love the idea of a low powered computer with no keyboard that you can use while munching on a bucket of chicken.

¼ chicken and chips and remote controls/mobile phones don't mix.

I learned the hard way.

That's what I've thought every time I've looked at it. What's the point? Do people actually do anything at all with them or do they just buy them and throw them under the coffee table to be pulled out once a month to check the bank or show someone a photo?

I'll stick to an iphone/laptop/HTPC/whatever heh.

From their name and logo I thought it might be some sort of gumby cthulhu. Alas it is not.

So Internode is an australian distributor/retailer of them. Big deal. My prediction still stands, they won't take off.

Yeah, I keep looking and it's like

You can get APPS!!!

Yeah, so what's so good about this thing?

They have apps man!!!!

OK, so what's so good about the apps, I still don't know what it is really.

APPPS I SAID MAN APPPPPPPPPPSSS APPS APPS APPS APPS.

From what I can gather they're kinda like a ipod touch, run some apps that streams some stuff off the net just a lot more bulky.

Aran was on the beta program for these while I was at QDC, but I never really him to much more than talk about it, despite his claims to intend to write something for it. I've not yet seen anyone else develop anything revolutionary for it either.

Internode have been stocking them for around a year now I think and have sold a decent amount of them. They have taken off, but not my sort of thing.

If they've 'taken off' lets do a poll. How many people either own one or know someone who owns one?

Its for internode fans?

I'm not an internode fan but I do support and recommend them as one of the leading ISP's in Australia in terms of Quality of Service and Excellent Support.
