Has anyone found a store that will price match with either of these store. Prefferably with an outlet in Brisbane. Everywhere else is about 100 bucks more.
I'm after an AMD Quad Core Phenom II 940 for tomorrow.

I've www.staticice.com'd it.

That is all.

Why not just buy it from Umart or MSY?

I'm think nobody will price match with an online store .. they will spout the s*** about stock levels, convenience, etc

If one Umart store is out of something, you might be able to get them to ship it from another store.

People who use pricing matching on things that aren't normally haggled should be ashamed; instead of rewarding the company that actually gives you low prices all the time, you give business to the other company with the high prices.

what do you do when the company with low prices always have no stock tho?!

But yeh, I agree - I felt really bad the other day when I wanted some new headphones and I checked out the awesome headphones.com.au but ended up buying from JB just so I could get them on the same day (I was looking at them after 6pm so they wouldn't have gotten in the mail same day). JBs wouldn't even price match, but they got within $10, which was enough so I could have them next-day. But I still felt like an a****** about it.

Harvey's have definitely price matched for me in the past. Mostly they go the whole way but sometimes they're a few bucks less.

I mentioned something a few weeks/months ago about trying to buy some Logitech X5500's

Umart - $405
Harvey Norman - $699

wouldn't price match, said that "$405 is less than we buy them at"
I'm like yeah.. but you say here that you will beat a competitors price?

argued my point, got no where, left store

Because Intel equivalents are 150% of the AMD price.

so zylox... you got this rig yet?

Just woke up at 2pm... So no! I was contemplating going with something inferior but I did that with my graphics card and I wasn't happy in the end so I might just wait it out.

Harvey's have definitely price matched for me in the past.

They don't do CPU's do they?

--------------

get this gamedude dropped their price over night for the 955 but rang up and they dont have any in stock. they apparantley got rid of them because they were outdated or some s*** and they said the AMDx4 9950 BE is the ducks nuts atm. but acording to http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html the AMD 955 is much better. MSY stafF said the same s***? Sounds like a crock to me!

anyway got to go try and make Umart at 8 mile before 5. later.

i've shopped from Umart for near half a decade and.... to be honest? service is ussually s***. standing (well, if u go to milton, its sitting, oooh, classy) in line for balls withering amounts of time is annoying as hell.

Go MSY!!! (normally like 2 bucks cheaper at the end of the day ;) and their service is like how u expect it to be with that website, chaotic and no advice, its 'get your s*** and get out' philosophy which is awesome (provided u know what u want... which... u SHOULD for that kinda shop, else waiste ur big bucks at compyalliance or something) and fasssssssstt as a marafuxa~!

Yeah, I've had the same problem at Harvey Norman before. They tried to get out of it plenty of ways. Asked how far away the store was, made me get the catalogue etc etc. They even phoned the other store to check if they had stock so they could say no if they didn't have any. In the end they just flat out refused so I had to drive the extra 20 minute to buy from the other store heh.

I dont know which MSY store you go to, but the one at brendale is quite the opposite. Its more like a dicksmiths or something, they come from behind the counter and help people (which is annoying coz it slows down people like me that 'want my s*** and get out').

I would say from my experiences that Umart is more 'get your s*** and get out'

Got the AMDx4 9950 Black Edition. Though it wasn't the 955 that I wanted I wasn't waiting till the 11th to get it. The 6000+x2 was bottlenecking my gtx280 and can see it not now. Plus I got 4gig (2x2g) Kingston rams to add to the 2gig of geils I had so it'll do me for a while. The 6000+ should make for a good HTPC anyways.

I went into harvey norman just after christmas looking for a logitec dream ipod dock which they had a marked price of $499 got them to match cheapest staticice which happened to be $250 from umart, whoop whoop 1/2 price and no standing in long lines or waiting, also i have done this with a netcom router from harveys, sometimes the floor sales blokes can be dicks about it trying to tell you the price you quote is less than their purchase price but usually they'll do it.
