Just a reminder and some info on Demigod which should be hitting Digital/Retail week after next (Tuesday 14th). Hopefully this interests some people.

The all father has vanished, creating an opening in the pantheon. To fill the void, Demigods from across from the mortal world must wage war against one another in a bid to ascend to true godhood.

Demigod is a real-time, tactical strategy game that includes extensive role-playing elements. Choose from several Demigods, each poised for battle with their own unique capabilities and awe-inspiring powers. Vanquish other would-be gods as you gain levels, increase in power, unlock the power of mystic artifacts and slowly battle your way closer to joining the Pantheon.

Usual game price I believe. The digital download on release day + retail box combo comes in at around $100 AU delivered.
Yes, this game is based on the DotA platform.

Digital Download of the game is $40US or around $56AU.

I've had the beta since day one and while the game has come a long way during that time I still think it's too early for a general release. I might post some impressions when it comes out, as I paid for my copy last year.

I fail to see how this is the case CeMaX... read the fine print dude.

If you sign up for the pre release with cc details it will give you the exchange rate on that day.

Read the fine print and it says that it will take the money out of your account at the exact exchange rate on the day of the release so yeh

I'm not sure where your $83 comes from? $71.52 + Shipping on my invoice = $100.16

Amazon can suck my balls. Last time those f***ers sent me a package it arrived screwed, half open, 1 of my books was damaged and another FELL APART as I picked it up. I told them and they offered to send me another book for free, but wanted me to pay for postage which they worked out to be around $40 australian for a f***ing book. Here... I just added this 1 book to my cart picked the fastest shipping and this is their estimate for a 200g book, AT MOST.

Back on track though this game looks pretty damn interesting. will have to give it a look over a bit more when it comes out

I f***ing love you Hashy.

This seems more like a weird version of TD with heros than Dota.

DM we should touch each other and swap anime shows. I enjoy One Piece. No Seriously its great.

Um no.

Essentially you have 2 choices of 'heroes'. One is your DOTA style hero with abilites that make you pwn. The other is more of a general type hero, which summons other units or 'buffs' units to make them imba - so a support character really.

The games pacing feels a bit slower than DOTA IMO, and it does feel so triggy happy. There are various points on the battlefield which you can capture to either increase the gold you receive, increase exp etc etc - so these try and increase the pacing of the game, you can even capture the portals which spawn the enemy creatures.

I hope there's an AUS following for the game, because otherwise the lag does become a factor. Also I know the developer spoke about post launch support for the game too - new heroes, abilities maps etc, I just hope this actually is realised, as that's what has kept DOTA so interesting.

Game seems great so far. Yes, does definately need some sort of DemigodAU group so to speak. Have to wait and see what tomorrow brings once I can legally play Online.

I'm interested in this one, seems like they've been listening to their community during testing and patches, and the concept seems sound. I think I'll try a copy via a friend before I grab it off stardock though (bit wary after space siege, unrelated as it is.)

Heres hoping they've put the supcom engine to good use!

Dont go hell for leather into tourney mode first off. A Couple of 1v1 Skirmishes should give most people the basic idea. Use an Assassin DG from the right side for the most basic play.

Seems like the sort of game I think I'd rather play with friends though, or on a lan, seems like teamwork is pretty important and you never get proper teamwork happening playing in random games on the net.

Yeah, thats the same problem with DOTA. People dropping out or just generally sucking and ruining the game.

Anyway I'm downloading the full game now (as I was in beta test I get it a tad early). I have my reservations about the title as I think, given that I was in the beta, they released it too soon.

Sucks to be that smaller, indie studio who's releasing that fantasy game that is like dota, they've been totally beaten to the punch by the Demigod team. Wouldn't suprise me if thats why they rushed it out now when it (maybe) wasn't quite ready. Can't remember the name of it though, had something to do with legends.

Edit: http://www.leagueoflegends.com/ thats the one

1.) go into a skirmish lobby
2.) set gold to high
3.) select ranged (preferably) demigod or the beast looking guy
4.) start game and run to the rare shop
5.) buy huge attack speed increasing items and lower your attack speed to around 0.8
6.) ???
7.) PROFIT!

Having rook attack on a 0.4 attack speed, AND have a chance to do 4x damage with a crit (which lands around 2.3k) is just insane. If you want to be real brutal, the poison dog looking thing demigod goes even more insane because of his skills

Unclean beast is probably the best assassin though (great passive bonuses, increased movement speed, strong ranged and melee damage), followed by regulus and torch bearer, then rook in last (mainly because of his big size and slow base speed). For generals I'd reckon Oak>Erebus>QoT>Sedna.

Unfortunately the general specific stuff is pretty crap (items, passive skills, etc.) A few minions early on can help a bit, but a little ways in I seem to find that I would've been better off just playing the general as an assassin, focusing on whatever attack or defense skills they have and spending gold on movement speed/health/attack/mana type items, and basically ignoring the minion trees and items.

If you play Queen of Thorns that way you end up with 4 points or so spare because she has so many skill lines related to her minions, then you just end up dumping them wherever which is a bit lame.

Some of this could be fixed with scaling minions and item improvements, but they've had these problems in beta for quite some time so I'm not hopeful it'll ever get properly fixed.

The game uses the same p2p net backend as Supcom (as you would expect). That means connection issues are pretty common.

No Khel. It isn't.

IMO it does seem rather balanced and have won/lost with many different combo's of characters (not that it's perfect though).

The maps are bigger, and characters have a slower walking speed, so the overall pace is a bit slower than dota. Still, I have come across a few fairly well organised teams already. Or maybe they just seemed more organised because my teammates kept getting themselves killed :p
