THQ have reminded us a Dawn of War 2 beta sign up will begin this week as the game draws ever-nearer release. Alongside the opportunity to get in first, they also pointed us in the direction of a Q&A session with Dawn of War II Producer, Mark Noseworthy, with plenty of juicy pieces of information regarding the beta and more.
With Dawn of War II we aren't just releasing a sequel - we're re-launching a franchise that is going to grow and evolve for years to come. The original game entertained players for almost five years (across several expansion packs) and will hopefully continue to be enjoyed even after DOWII ships. We want DOWII to be even more successful and are committed to making that a reality through ongoing support, downloadable content and future expansion packs.
You can check out the whole interview from the game's community page right here.

I never played DOW but I am told that its mechanics are very similar to COH. I'll be keen to give this a go.

Yeah dawn of war is very similar to company of heroes. Apparently the sequel is going to borrow a lot from company of heroes.

DoW had squads and node capturing for resources which led to a very aggressive style of play. It also had some cool hand to hand battle animations like people getting picked up and crushed/thrown/beaten on. DoW also had morale and a very simple cover system.

CoH introduced a few nice thinks like a proper cover system, much more detailed vehicles and defensive emplacements that have facing requirements.

DoW 2 is using a similar cover system and defensive emplacements. The combat looks to be at the pace of DoW. CoH generally focused around less units with more micro. It's also using a hero style system like warcraft 3, the difference being which hero you chose makes a big difference in the strategies you employ.

in summary, FOR THE EMPEROR
