Late last year a demo for Resident Evil 5 made its way to Japanese Xbox 360 consoles, today Capcom have announced the same demo will be arriving on the Xbox 360 from January 26.
Fans will have the opportunity to experience Resident Evil 5's revolutionary new features early, including two-player co-op with voice chat along with new characters, weapons and environments. The demo is set within two stages from the beginning of the game - Assembly Place and Shanty Town - featuring plenty of co-operative action, shooting, hordes of bloodthirsty infected Majini enemies and a few puzzles to round out the action. The demo has three levels of co-op play: single-player with AI support, two-player split-screen on a single Xbox 360 and two-player across Xbox LIVE.

Xbox 360 gamers will also be first to take on the new enemies in battle, including an army of weapon-wielding infected Majini, the gigantic hooded Majini Executioner and even the dreaded Chainsaw Majini. Players can also choose between the classic Resident Evil-style controls or switch to the newer "Action" controls inspired by games like "Gears of War 2" and "Halo 3".
It'll be interesting to test these new "Action" controls as they weren't available in early demos we've had a look at. Resi 5 is due to hit consoles worldwide this March 13 - you can check out our game page right here for more info and media.

Cool, never played resident evil or had a console but will definitely check it out on my 360. It will most likely be an xbox gold only allowed download though :/

Apparently in the later stages you must face the Giant Hooded and Infected Vagini.
Terrifying.

for those that are interested, got this little tid bit from PS3Evolution

"A Capcom press release clarifies that the Xbox Live demo will be released on Monday, January 26th and, for Gold subscribers, will be "available exclusively on Xbox 360 for one week" -- at which point the PSN version will be released (during the week of February 5th). In addition, the Resident Evil 5 TGS trailer will be available for download on Xbox Live beginning this Friday, January 16th."

Yeah, I did this a few months ago. Really, really underwhelming, and I absolutely loved RE4. They haven't improved or changed the gameplay at all, which is a bad thing when games like Dead Space have shown how this genre could be made better.

Having to stand still while a horde of zombies move really slowly towards you just feels stupid and dated. For some reason, it never bothered me when I played RE4, but now that I know how much better the same type of game can be done, RE5 felt s*** to me. I don't know if I'm going to buy this game anymore.

Midda - were the "Action" controls available to you?

Also, the press release we were sent mentioned this was an Xbox 360 exclusive (though that's probably why it's only available for a week)

Action controls? I'm not sure, I didn't go and change any of the options? Does it make the game more playable? Do I still need to come to a complete stop to aim and reload?

I don't know (that's why I asked), it's the first I've heard of action controls
