Hey all,

I'm headed to Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam for a month and a half with 6 mates from the 28th Dec. Does anyone know of any must do things while I'm over there? We're flying into KL in Malaysia, then up to Chang Mai in Thailand. We're hitting all the usual tourist spots like Koh Samui, and Koh Pang Nan for the full moon party, then accross to Phuket for a week. From there it's largely unplanned, though we're headed to Ho Chi Minh first and planning to spend 2 weeks progressivly heading north through Vietnam.

Anyone spent much time in the area?

If you scuba dive do so in Vietnam, I went in Nha Trang, it was cool. Get some clothes made in Hoi An for cheap, it's a fun experience to get bespoke tailoring done and doing so in the west will cost you hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars. Doing it in the best tailor in Hoi An will cost a few hundred dollars for a good suit.

Eat weird food, have fun, but don't be one of the embarrassing, wet T-shirt competition drunken westerners making the rest of us look like f***wits.

You sure you want to go to Thailand ?
That place is a bit of mess lately.

Still i guess you will get most of the hotel to yourself.

Yeah we don't intend on furthering the douchebag western tourist stereotype. Bugger that.

In terms of security, it's mainly political unrest in Bankok which seems to have settled for the time being. We're only in the capital for 2 nights so we think we'll be ok (Train's in and out). Also staying the fk away from the Malay/Thai border as theres some guerilla warfare style fighting going on down there.

Thanks for the heads up on scuba, I don't have my licence but some of my mates do so they'll probably be keen.

No one's mentioned ping-pong yet - that would be high on my list of things to see and do.
