Need a ninja answer - can laptops (HP nx6120 OR dell inspiron 1525) be used with a single stick of ram or must they have 2 sticks installed?

Matra is always there for me! Well it (HP thingy) started up with one stick it it so that's looking good anyway.. |

it's rare to find laptops that require two sticks of ram. usually only one is supplied.
