Sweet as! Time to bust out the cameras. I expect parabol to win unless iceman makes a return.

Looks like the telescope is out of the question, can't fit all three objects in its FOV, too far apart :(

Camera and tripod it is then.

Yeah I think I will bust out the camera and tri-pod. Not sure the zoom will be enough though :/

Haha I tried to take photos of the sky once. As as I stuck my eye behind the view finder I couldn't see s***! I even switched to 0 lux - did not help!

Wow what a night! Managed to get a few GB worth of imagery through my telescope + CCD combo as well as a regular camera (on tripod), just have to sort through and process a selection which will take ages. Will post when I'm done tonight or tomorrow.

Good work guys! For your interest, we have an area in our brains that is dedicated to face recognition (fusiform face area, FFA), and it loves things in that sort of configuration:)

Nice Para

Just wondering though how good of a picture you can take using your telescope of things here on earth, say from a spot like cerbs place?

I haven't lived in an area with a view for quite a while, so I haven't been able to test that.

With space objects I can easily make out plenty of detail at magnifications of around 200x, given the object is at least 30 degrees above the horizon. Problem is the lower you go, the more atmosphere the light has to travel through, distorting the image heavily. Might be a big problem for terrestrial shots since you're now cutting through the maximum atmosphere possible at a zero angle!

Will give it a shot sometime though, if I can find a good place that's safe to set up this gear without being hassled/mugged :)

i'd reckon given the size of the moon in your shots that from my place at kangaroo point you could probably get shots at the people inside the wheel at south bank. :) (that's the massively bright thing in the center of my first shot)
