So after searching through pages of threads trying to find the one I was after I thought up of a little idea that could be useful. When people make a new thread, have a bunch of check boxes that describe the thread via tags. Tags like;

- Applications/Utilities
- Game Reviews
- Game News
- Storms
- Treadmill
- NEWS:
- e-Bashing

and so on.. then have a categories section where you can click "Gaming" and it'll bring up all the threads tagged with that.

ATM threads are loosely (manually) filed into various categories (http://www.ausgamers.com/forums/) ; an ongoing tagging system thingy is on the TODO list but no idea when we'll get to it. I actually want to do search first though.

I'd like to see a 'report as rubbish' button to help signal crap posts. Just increments an SQL field for that post ID, then in the back-end you sort by that field, and if the post has 50 reports as rubbish there's probably a pretty good chance it's rubbish.

I can't see QGL's finest abusing that system at all.

If you're going to do that, to be fair, you should have a "this post is awesome" button to decrement the field :P

isn't it up to the moderators to decide what's acceptable crap from the regular crap? a system where noobs can vote on what's acceptable sounds highly exploitable... we'll never get to see fruit that looks like boobs or vaginas coz of rabid adelaidian christian noobs. ;p

The owner of the thread should be able to lock it. You post a quest, get your answer. Lock it.

ok so if there is a post or even a thread with 50 odd counts of rubbish what would happen to it? Anything? Or do you just want it to be classified officially as rubbish? You could have a look at how many rubbish posts have been made by each user and if they have a really high count they could just be banned. As if that also wouldn't be abused.

f*** donating money, trog keeps travelling Europe from the fat qgl loot.
