Yoinked from http://store.steampowered.com/news/1977/

On November 11 the demo will be made available to all PC and Xbox 360 gamers worldwide, with no obligation to purchase. The demo concludes on November 18, when Left 4 Dead will be made available at retail outlets across North America and worldwide via Steam.

So LittleBigPlanet tonight and then goofing off at work playing the demo tomorrow

Valve control Steam, not anyone else; if you're having problems with it, it's their fault. Just go download it from another mirror- oh, you can't

Hrmm, tempting, but I already have such a ridiculous backlog of games to play :(

Definitely getting it though, but I think I'll wait for the demo everyone can play to try it out. A whole bunch of us at work are going to get it and carve up some zombie slaw during lunchtime, should be sweet.

I can't get an online game working due to server:player ratio however I had a few goes on Normal mode with bots which was piss easy. Had one go on expert and couldn't make the first checkpoint with bots.

Haha one of the AI guys is like "dont shoot the cars, the alarm will attract the horde" so naturally I shot the car and 100s of them come from everywhere I was laughing so hard I died.

This is gunna be sweet once some more servers go online.

It will be interesting to see how Valve handles the server situation. Because the game is a Co-op game that has a start and a finish players do not want to simply drop in and drop out like you would with a deathmatch game. At the same time players don't want to be playing on high ping servers or servers that count towards a monthly quota.

yea, when it finishes searching for a dedicated server it asks if you want to host it yourself. we tried this, but it was laggy as hell. I think the detailed AI and the "director" stuff going, it does use a fair bit of bandwidth.

Yeah my US friend thought the matchmaking kind of sucked.

Just make's me wonder what the whole XBOX360 shinannigan crowd is going to be doing? Host your own server? On what? Microsoft's dream console. Sure I understand its a small PC in a box but, jeez XBOX360 doesn't have two network ports let alone a kind of resource managerment thing for memory?

How is the XBOX 360 going to manage connections to and from it self? Will the network have a sort of thicker network code or something or just a substandard gameplay to cut back on bandwidth transmission

P.S: -Off Topic- Ordered Fallout 3 and it didn't arrive (decided fock it taking too long) and went out and bought it, it is freaking amazing. Sure could acquire *cough*pir...*cough*it. Bethesda have done a REALLY TOP-NOTCH job; Why the hell to bother. Least Beth lived up to one promise, "It will make you feel like the way you used to play games" (cirqua 199X)

I was reading an article on the escapist website about immersion (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_159/5067-The-Dealer-Doesnt-Play).

But there was a REALLY good article on there about the fine line between true IMMERSION and just playing Manhunt and see-same-baddy-kill-same-baddy or "game grinds we love to hate" style article [and Im not talking about MMO, but rather game play repeatative we love to hate.] If you can find it let me know here.

Just with the lack of decent solid releases (Although Far Cry 2 -- minus malaria, amazing respawning guards posts and NPCs that try to continously run you over. I just give it the benefit of the doubt for weapon variety. Sure I love the whole CoD4 sprintathon but then again CoD4 doesn't have workable fire physics models -> flamethrower, flare gun - again fire, SPAS 12 + South Africa Shotgun + Grenade Launcher and our good friend mr m79 GL, which has been sawly missed cause Im passionate about single shot vietnam grenade launchers.

Anyway hoping Left 4 Dead in the coming whatever will do something cool whether it be for story narrative, coop or whatever.

type openserverbrowser in console. it will bring up the server browser. you should be able to connect to ga servers through that.

When you open server browser you have to click on the custom tab as well. Matchmaking should be left for the RTS and console noobs please.

If you don't know how to get console up right click on the l4d shortcut > properties > launch options > type '-console'.

So do other players play the zombies or is it just 4 players per server?

Just 4 player for the demo... unless they update. Full version will have 8 player.

The demo is two maps of one scenario. Every scenario has five maps. The full version has four or five scenarios apparently.

Not the longest game ever but it has a lot of replay value with the ability to play as the infected and the AI director.

Each to their own I guess. I've put like 10 hours into it so far and I'm not even close to being sick of it. Having said that, I've only played it online with friends, never with a group of people I don't know. Maybe it's not as much fun then?

Yeah, I think it'd be much more fun with friends, either on a lan, or at least talking to each other over the voice coms. Though it looks like the sort of game I'd find fun anyway, even with strangers. I was watching a guy at work play it online today after work, and it looked really fun.

Edit: hrmm, I said the word 'fun' far too many times there.

Played it at work today during lunch, so much fun :)

The zombies are suprisingly unpredictable too. We died near the end of the second level, while you're waiting for the door to open and you have to fight off the horde. I was on the minigun and zombies were pouring out of the windows opposite me and I was mowing them down and it worked quite nicely, so next time we got there I took up my position on the minigun again, but no zombies were coming through the windows opposite me. I started thinking, hrmm, thats odd, not a lot of zombies here yet, wheres this so called 'horde'. Then I turn around and they're all pouring in through the windows behind me instead and getting ready to pack rape me.

Of course, it didn't help then that my team-mates panicked and threw molotov cocktails at me.

TF2 was a bit too easy and boring for my liking (played on a friends computer) so I never bothered getting steam..although I was interested in Portal. Left 4 Dead looks like a heap of fun co op and that's my main interest! I guess I'll have to get steam when I get home!

WOAH, this game is f***ing intense.

Just played with qmass for an hour or so on the hardest difficulty, awwwwwwwwwwwwwesome.

We nearly completed the subway level, till one of those "Tank" monsters appeared and f***ed up the 4 of us in like 10 seconds.

Hunting rifle = the win, just POPS there head open.

I don't know about the replayability, but I will definitely shell out the money even just for a few ultra fun games.

I reckon!!!

This game is f***ing awesome, I'm 110% sold! Full game having loads more levels is well and truly enough for me, but the playing as infected sounds f***ing awesome.

The Director has been making some funky scenario's, the best one was when he placed the witch DIRECTLY in the path on the subway level, no possible way to get around... we stood around for ages brainstorming over voice comm till one of the noobs goes "f*** it" and started spotlighting her ;)

The game definitely needs to be played on expert and even then I would like a difficulty level ABOVE that for replayability.

It's amazing how quickly the game can f*** up. 4 players, all full health, all health kits, last room.

"Kn1fe you get on the minigun before I open the door"
"OK"
/hits button

One guy gets taken instantly by a Smoker, the other one gets instantly pounced on by Hunter, the other gets smacked by the bile/gas s*** and is overrun by the horde.

I just had to LOL.

Mad game!

Has anyone finished the demo on hardest difficulty? Friend and I probably spent a good hour or so running through the train level, but our progress was totally dependant on where we would eventually run into a tank. Do they actually die?! Tried saving up some pipe bombs for it, no dice. We hunting rifle spam, again no dice. We tried hiding after we agro'd it...yeah guess what happened then :P

Finished it about 10 times on expert, but TBH only 2 of those times we encountered a tank.

The tank WILL die, but all 4 players will definitely not stay alive, it always ends up 1 person left backtracking and spamming, climbing on top of trains and trying to get it trapped against the environment.

There was a witch last night placed DIRECTLY in front of the minigun in the last room, I went for it... it was spinning up, and she just woke up and ran instantly behind me for rape :(

I encountered a tank in the 2nd last room, the open floor type bit with loads of concrete pillars.

Every single pillar you ran behind, he smashed STRAIGHT through it, awesome visuals. I took him around and he hit probably 12 pillars in the room, before he smashed me :(

So yeah, I think you pretty much need to use the environment, you can't beat him in the open.

I love it when the team starts moving really fast (best way IMO) and the back guy randomly guys sucked back by a Smoker from a 100m away.

The Director really f***s you up when you run ahead. There was a clear run on the first level (NO zombies at all outside) to the safe room so I went for it while my team was slowly creeping about.

There was 1 hunter sitting in front of the safe room :(

On my second game of playing we were in the sewers. The team ran to the table with all the weapons/ammo on it near the train. I decided I'd quickly walk back to grab some pills .. by myself .. When I was alone the director decided to launch a zombie horde at me. About 30 zombies smashed me as I was picking up some pills.. I got owned :D

Tank gets easy once you learn a few tricks. You can kill a tank on your own (provided you have enough ammo) by using the train - just run in and out of the train while it chases you and eventually it goes down. Another way that was successful was we had 2 guys play piggy in the middle with it. The tank kept changing its mind on who to attack depending on who was shooting it.

Really hope they release a harder difficulty and make the witch a bit scarier. I remember reading previews about this game thinking that if you alerted the witch it was game over but she is piss - tank is way harder to get through.

Tanks aren't too bad. Usually it'll start attacking one of the other players straight up so I just stand far away and shoot like crazy while it's distracted by someone else. That usually works

I d/l the demo and was pretty impressed given that there's only two levels.

Real sense of panic when the Horde starts coming in numbers, and I like the idea of 4 player co-op. I really hope there's some kick ass levels in store, cos I am considering buying this (last game I bought for PC was the Orange Box).

Being a big fan of zombie flicks, I think they've done a pretty good job with the atmosphere etc. Definitely has given me a taste for brains...err I mean killing zombies.

Tanks are insane on expert mode... probably like a 1/10 chance of killing them with 4 humans playing.

+1

My iinet uncaps midnight tonight, got the new PC cranking and I'm definitely going to preorder it tomorrow.

I can't wait to play VS.

Stalk someone as a smoker, wait till the s*** REALLY hits the fan (eg. tank, or finale) then BAM ;) I think playing as the infected will require some good teamwork and timing.

why the f*** did they change how to look for servers? seriously idk how the hell to join any except random ones and why would i want to do that? what was wrong with the TF2 type interface? it was perfect

yer atm its as if they just ported the console version to pc and kept all the crap stuff. matchmaking is f***ing lame and they also have bars to indicate ping instead of the usual numbers. hopefully they change it for the final release.

in the mean time you can view and join servers by typing openserverbrowser in the console instead of using the crappy matchmaker.

What I hear about the infected, apparently it goes.

2 Hunters at a time
1 Smoker
1 Boomer
1 Tank
No Witch

The Tank takes the longest to respawn and you can't select him, completely random. Each player has 1 go at least of the Tank before someone has a 2nd. You can have preference amongst the other type, but it's not always certain (eg. that class you selected is already at the limit).

Standard spawn times are 30-60s apparently and all 4 players can be alive at once if they wait.

Sounds good.

4 infected working together could so easily take down all 4 humans at the same time. 2 hunters take down 1 each, a smoker takes down another and the tank smashes the other to the ground. game over.

ive always felt that you shouldnt always rely on your teammates to help you. imo if you are stuck on the ground you should be able to take some pain pills or use a medkit to get yourself back up.

Purchased the game just before, trying to preload using Steamwatch / iinet servers.

It's downloaded about 40mb, it goes on and off, waiting for my volume usage to update to see if it's in the "freezone".

Going to take a long bloody time to preload, only at 1%, but even if it takes 2 days.. if it's all free data, that would pwn.

EDIT: Yep freezone working fine for iinet users on the Westnet content servers.

Going slow as ass though, can't maintain a connection.

I'm not really a fan of how the matchmaking works to be brutally honest. It's f***ing hopeless. It was the reason I threw in the Xbox live towel with Team Fortress 2 and bought it on Steam. The bars for ping etc is fine until I have a problem and want to know what my actual ms is.

Takes too long to find a server too - I'm not sure how the servers work but can't be that hard can it? I did a little Hamachi local with a friend and hosted it fine.

Hopefully all this is cleared up for release but we'll see.

Sam.

After playing this for about 3 or 4 hours i've pre-ordered/loaded it. This will be so much damn fun. I got a friend to play it with me and we picked up 2 others and did speed runs competitions on expert. See who could get the furthest. Fun stuff. I made it through the 1st stage easy and even managed to clear the 2nd with only shooting like 4 times. Had no special infected until the last room and my team mates came in just in time to take the tanks, and hordes attention while I waited for the door and ran up the stairs. Also funny that when 1 person way out in front makes a tank mad, he will track down the other members behind. 1 guy was trying to hide in the train while a horde was coming, and a tank just broke the door down killing him straight up

The tank is really LOL. He was in the train the other day (hammering on 1 member) while the 3 of us were spamming him in the head, point blank, through the window... thought we were safe.

Then suddenly he just bashes a hole in the wall of the train and rapes us :(

Me strex loki and rubba just went through the no mercy campaign it was f***en epic. Took us a s*** load of go's on the finale. You gotta battle 2 tanks, 3 hordes and smokers, boomers, hunters.

On expert according to the end game stats the campaign took us 4.5 hours. Good value if you consider that there are 4 more campaigns plus versus mode.

Really satisfying cant wait to go through the next campaign tomorrow night.

Steven farrelly game of the year medal imo.

yep we are fkn elite.

we were getting a bit sooky when the tanks and smokers kept haxing us, and considered lowering the difficulty from expert. i'm fkn glad we didnt cos it just felt epic when the chopper came. then ctd was taking too long holding off the horde, so i capped his ass and the rest of us flew off to safety.

eh ive been reading 3 tanks, but you usually get rescued before it spawns.

one tactic a lot of people are using is hiding in the closet to kill the hordes smokers, boomers and hunters and to kite the tanks.

Just finished playing 6 hours straight of this game with my housemate. I normally hate FPS type games as I find them to be very paint-by-numbers, but I LOVED this game. It somehow manages to combine the cheesiness of Hollywood zombie horror flicks, the kind of gore you can only find in indie slasher films, and the sheer brick-s***ting suspense that has been missing in movies since Hitchcock died. I loved mowing down waves of zombie horde with my assault rifle and pipe bombs, getting the 'brain salad' achievement was a nice reward for blowing up 100 zombie heads and my heart rate goes through the roof when I hear a witch crying. Seriously, the first time we encountered a witch it freaked the crap out of me.

I think the thing that really makes the game more than anything is the music direction. I love how the music changes depending on what's going on in teh game around you, and it really sets the mood quite well. Although the level design is pretty average, it's great how it keeps changing. The locations of enemies, weapons and other pickups changes. There's also some cool scripted events (Spoiler:
Like when you're waiting for the elevator in Mercy Hospital, and the horde busts through the walls
).

The biggest flaw in the game in my opinion is the survivor AI. Well, I guess the AI is technically quite good, but they have a few infuriating habits, like walking directly into your line of fire, then complaining when your bullets give them improved ventilation. There also appears to be some bugs with the achievements. I have fulfilled the criteria for a few of the achievements, yet haven't actually been acknowledged. This sucks :(

Anyway, my housemate is the only person I know with the game, so we'll have to arrange to play with some of you guys.

Just finished a solid 5 hours of non-stop VS. gameplay, I haven't even touched the co-op or single player modes.

Playing as the infected is crazy, the spawn interface makes it so easy to stalk and hit the survivors at the worst possible situation.

Best fun so far is when they get down to 3 or 2 injured players and you keep spawning as boomer. Spawn DIRECTLY around the corner, spew/get killed... 20 seconds... rinse/repeat :)

People really play as a team in VS., if you lag behind, even for 5 seconds, you're going to get raped by the 4 guys walking around in spawn mode right next to you waiting. Unlike the AI director that spawns something within 30 seconds of f***ing around, 1 second and all 4 boss infected will hammer you in VS. mode if you're at a distance.

Ok rant time.

This game needs a merit system REALLY bad, the amount of bulls*** that goes on in VS. mode is f***ing bollocks and is nearly turning me off the game completely.

I'm so sick of playing such a good round as survivors, say 25 minutes on the finale of hospital, teams switch... then 1 little c*** (at least, usually the whole team) starts teamkilling eachother, game is over in 10 seconds and the other team gets no chance to play infected at all. Ends up for the map 1500 points vs 15.

Or if you get the c*** on YOUR team. You play a great round as infected, then teams switch and you really want to show them how it's done... walk out of the saferoom and some irritating little c*** shoots you in the back with the shotgun because he wants to play infected again. GG DIPs*** YOU JUST RUINED THE GAME.

Or they just quit, leaving 4 human infected vs 1 survivor with 3 stupid noob bots. Then nobody will join the survivor team because nobody wants to play survivor with bots against a full infected team...then the last survivor leaves and server ends and goes back to lobby.

Then in the lobby the first 4 people select the infected team... and you can't get 8 people in the lobby, because the first thing people see when they join is all 4 infected slots are already selected... and they can't wait 10 minutes for the teams to switch.

Though eventually after waiting around 4 decent players come into the lobby and are cool with playing survivor, we all roll through the level, good points, good teamwork guys... teams switch... THEN WE ARE BACK TO THE START OF MY POST! THE c***S TEAMKILL THEMSELVES!

Then it switches to the next map (each team had a go), then the survivors start leaving (because they will never get to play infected, the other team will just teamkill)... and we're back to the bots scenario, then the last survivor leaves... and WE ARE BACK TO THE f***ING LOBBY AGAIN.

f*** ME YOU STUPID c***S STOP RUINING THE GAME.

f***.

Like any game man it just takes a bit to get the noobs out of the way. Like on tf2 how we had teams of medics for a week.

Most annoying thing I find in versus is people moving along the map slow as even camping some spots. I get wtfraged. It is piss to win as survivors... just stick together and move swiftly.

Probably not perm. But it bans you for a certain amount of time (dunno how long).

But 2 servers I went into in a row both kicked me when I joined.

played the whole thing through at a lan yesterday with m8's was f***ing awesome fun whilst semi pissed. Took us about 5 hours or so.. We weren't racing through, just enjoying the game... Not sure how replayable it is now :(

Not sure how replayable it is now

Unlike a lot of games in the past few years, this one has replayablity out the ass. There are so many things you can do. No healing run, shotgun only run, pistol only (which me and 3 other randoms on steam managed to do on advanced) and it's still a blast each time. All this heightened by the fact that monster placement is totally random and you never know what is going to come and from where. Now... if they can only get a Diablo style random level generator happening on top of this it'll be the ultimate co-op game. Regardless, eventually they will release more levels for it and open up VS on the other 2 campaigns (why they didn't do this from the start idk) so it'll only be more fun to play.

Has anyone finished any on expert yet? I've been trying, but the tanks generally f*** us up.

The thing I hate is that people can bypass the friends only game feature with that openserverbrowser command. So we've had some really awesome games with just friends then it gets f***ed up by some random joining and f***ing it up for us before leaving.

I know you can vote kick, but they shouldn't be able to join in the first place.

Other than that It's a blast. Turning the music up really makes the game a hell of a lot more atmospheric. Had times were all my teammates died and it was just me on expert, the music really makes it tense.

Martz I assume that's not on expert? I've finally finished No Mercy on expert with 3 other guys off steamfriends (really pro TF2 players), it took just over 3 hours. If you're not playing coop on expert, you're not getting the full experience. (btw there is a 3rd tank on the finale, so when the chopper comes REALLY move, because a 3rd tank does spawn at that moment, just hope the director puts it behnd you and not IN the chopper like we got on several occasions)

VS mode biggest downfall is being set to Normal difficulty. Zombies do 2hp per hit and pose zero risk, even if the person is downed/infected and fully surrounded, they can take a beating for 20 seconds and still get revived no problem. Hunters/smokers do next to no damage and rarely come in use against a half decent team.

Expert VS is too hard, 20hp (I believe? could be 10hp?) per zombie hit means 1 good boomer attack (usually JUST out of the safe room) and they're basically raped, smokers incapicitate in 2 seconds, hunters do instant massive damage just for pouncing.

Advanced is perfect though and should be the default setting, at least if you do a good stalk as a hunter and pounce on a lagging guy for 5 hits, you are going to do more then something stupid like 10hp damage. zombies also do enough damage that hordes/boomer attacks are viable, someone surrounded by zombies will quickly get downed and killed without support.

Tank is a bit frustrating in VS normal also, especially if they have good weapons, it's just not that frightening when you have to smash someone on red health 2 - 3 times to incapacitate them.

VS mode on default is playable for now, there's a lot of noobs, lot of people that don't use teamwork and a lot of new players that don't know the maps back to front. Give it a few weeks though (it's happening already) and it will be virtually impossible for an infected team to win.

I agree with CHUB. Once all the noobs get weeded out infected will never win it will just be a matter of hurting the humans as much as possible. Expert is fairly rediculous though.

Mics help alot for the infected.. spose for the survivors aswell but with the zombies its really about getting to the last guy in the group alot.. if someone strays for a second then a hunter has to pounce them.. Smoker pulls off the guy going to help and then the other hunter pounces the 2nd helper.. leaving the last guy to get vomited on... worked soo many times

I have never seen this happen, EVER, I've played ~20 hours of VS so far.

There should never be a "last guy" and unless there's a complete retard on the team, your scenario never even begins to work. Even if it played out as planned (which it shouldn't?), the person that gets vomitted on can easily melee/kill all the zombies, take under 10hp damage and still shoot off both hunters + smoker before ANY of 3 of the survivors die.

This is also assuming your hunters both make good pounces, people are slowly figuring out 1 vs 1, hunters stand very little chance against a survivor front on, any retard can melee/stun with little to no precision. You should be rewarded for pinning a guy around a corner and getting 10 good hits on him, atm it doesn't even dint there health below green... the other 3 survivors can stroll back through 2 stories while the survivor is spamming on mic "guys help me, hunter, he's got me... guys hunter... back up stairs" and you're still not even downed.

Like doob says, it's easy once you figure it out. Stick together, hunters/smokers are COMPLETELY useless, even if 2hunters/smoker attack at once, like I pointed out above, no damage at all is done. Horde/boomers are COMPLETELY useless, anyone that knows how to play could take on 10 hordes at once by themselves and take close to 0hp damage. That leaves the tank that is mega nerfed and gets killed 90% of the time.

Some people might want to play on Normal, but for gods sake don't make it default :S

thats all good when you get versus mode in normal skill, when the skill level gets up to advanced or expert, the 'last person' will take way more than 10hp.

When it fires up in expert you'll be lucky to get 100 metres from the spawn..

Thank you, you just proved my entire point.

It's just a pity that the default is normal, therefor the large majority of games/servers are normal.

One thing I hate about this game is the melee. Seriously nerf this ability. I hate it when c***s run around the whole map clicking mouse2 as if they have it in some repetitive bind.

I reckon you should only be able to melee a boss infected once every 5 seconds or something. I hardly bother shooting hunters... just repeatedly melee them and it gives them the major s***s.

Reminds me of 'crab walking' and 'dolphining' in various other FPS games.

You can fix melee btw, several servers implement an invisible stamina bar, slows it down a fair bit after 5 or so continous swings at horde and is permanently slowed when yellow/red. So far I've only ever seen this on expert VS servers.

I generally play with at least 1 of my mates.

We usually stop the other team reaching the safe room on normal mode and make it there ourselves easily.

Normal mode relies heavily on teamwork as the damage is so low. It is vital to coordinate your attacks to take down as many as possible at once to inflict the most damage possible in the time you have.

-------------

Usual spawns are 2 hunters, smoker and boomer.

Send boomer in to spawn a horde rush, 2 hunters go in when they are swarmed trying to pin 2 different players at the same time, smoker tries to grab the first that comes running to help the pinned players.

Unless the humans get separated attacking as a solo hunter is just a waste of effort and time. I also find hunter leaping around and behind the group of humans often starts a panic and is a good way to start the boomer attack.

----------

Human side move as quickly as possible and stay close to minimise the attempts the infect get to attack you. I find 9/10 times we will successfully get to the end.

Also don't melee the hunters off, 1 shotgun to the head and they are gawn! I find when playing hunter I often get bashed off the pin and manage to re-attack or leap away to attack from another angle again.

OK I'm succumbing to peer pressure and intend to purchase this game, but I'd really like something physical to show for forking over amounts of cash monies. Is L4D in stores in Australia or only available on Steam? If not will it be and does anyone know when?

Played a few games on VS. expert today, the quality of players is terrible but at the same time the gaming was so intense I was nearly having a heart attack.

I managed on quite a few maps to get an average distance of 15 - 20% despite all 3 players being complete noobs and getting killed STRAIGHT outside the saferoom.

Grab gun/grab health pack, open safe room door... SPRINT! Don't shoot zombies unless they attack you, you end up running backwards popping off the few chasing you. Eventually after you've sprinted 30% of the level a hunter figures out and spawns... he leaps... you get a good melee/stun, kill him... SPRINT!

But yeah, teams are just s***. I nearly got votekicked out for "leaving my team members" and "not playing properly"... so I agreed to play there way, we got 4% average distance, 5 points :S I managed to convince a guy (other 2 tried to votekick me again and still went slow) the next round to try my strategy, 48% average distance despite the other 2 guys getting killed outside saferoom.

Chub if I ever play this game I hope I am on your team cos you are, like, the best player and everyone else in the entire world are total idiots who have, like, totally no clue.

I mean it must be so hard carrying the entire team in every game you play, and like, totally raping while all the noobs just get in your way.

Far out you are awesome.

Can you tell us again about the time you, like, got an average of 48% when you did it your way but only 4% when you did it the noobs way? That was awesome.

the ingame 'find a server' function is courageous, yet retarded

the average user shouldn't haveto enable the console, type "openserverbrowser" just to find a local server with a good ping.

bad ping KILLS this game.

it's a f***ing awesome game on lan though

I find the best way to join a server is joining the GA, node, 3fl steam community then a new window appears next to your friends that lists all the servers.

Does it really get insanely expensive with the crap au/us dollar?

This hasn't made the AG news, but I figured it worth the mention all the same.

slashdot.org has reported recently that the demo included some code for the linux client version of the game. There's also been ads advertised at Valve asking for coders who can port Windows games to Linux. Time will tell I guess

I'm interested in this game.

Would a AMD AM2 4000+, 2 gig and 8500 video card do the trick? I think the video card is 512meg, it's just a generic cheapie though.

We have a 360 but I tend to think FPS are better on a pc.

I'm running
amd64 4000+
2gig
7800gtx

Runs awesome considering my specs. High detail with AA and s*** off. 30fps~ depending on what is happening.

Pretty much if you can run any source game (tf2, cs:s etc) you should be fine.

Cool, I'd pretty well written it off as I assumed I would need a new video card. The current set-up runs TF2 of full with no drama's.

Is a 8500GT better or worse than your 7800GTX? Yeah, I know nothing about video cards.

BTW, where in windows do you find out where how much RAM is on the Video Card?

Scrap that, just found it, 512.

Indeed L4D runs better then TF2.

I got 1280/high/AA and all types of s*** with my s***ty 8600GT and it still maintains 30fps+ in massive firefights.
